I was told you might be able to help. I clicked on the link yesterday in W&C about the car wreck. Now I have a virus on my laptop and its getting on my nerves. It is an on and off aging thing since yesterday. Doesnt matter if I am watching a youtube video or not, there is a radio station playing music and comercials. I can hear it even when my laptop is closed sometimes. Esav said ask you, so here I am brother. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Thanks bro

I would just like to be able watch videos again without having music playing over the words I am trying to hear.

I'm not Ken so excuse me for butting in, but you might download AVG antivirus (free, and well-regarded), and after updating the virus definitions run it to see if it will remove your virus/trojan/whatever it is. Just a suggestion.

I've never heard of a virus that causes your PC to play audio unless it's in pop-up ads.

Run Hijack This and send me an email with the contents of the log file to: kcollucci at live dot com.

From this file we'll be able to see what's running and what shouldn't and what's a virus and what's not. It's gonna' take me a while to analyze the file so have some patience.

Or try loading and running Spybot. It is amazingly good for a free program. When installing it, DO NOT allow the Tea Timer to load or run. Its a memory hog.

AdAware has their new 2009 free edition out, and its Ok, too.

Ccleaner is a good free registry scrubber.

Using powernoodle's suggestion above, add these and they should do it for you.

Or you can just pony up for Kaspersky's Internet Security Suite and not worry about this stuff anymore. It is an intense program, and having some basic knowledge of computers will help you while the program trains itself for your applications.

EDIT: I see Ken has replied. Let him run with this. He'll get you fixed up! Ken, if you do identify some malware of some sort, would you be kind enough to let us know what you've found? I too have never heard of anything that causes an audio stream.

I had the audio thingy on my wife's computer a while back. I can attest to dbltap45acp's frustration - since it blurts out about 1½ seconds of music in what seems like random times.

I installed Malwarebytes to get rid of the thing.

Wow Ken C. that's incredibly generous of you. Way to go above and beyond

Thanks Ken, I appreciate it. I went to the link and downloaded it. I cant seem to find what you are talking about though. It ran two seperate things, one is called spyware doctor, and the other is called advanced registry optimizer.

Both ran scans and said they found problems. Both fixed a little bit but then said to fix all virus' and spyware I needed to buy the packages from them. Did I download the right programs?

You needed to download Trend Micro HijackThis. After it is installed you will come to a pop up window that asks you to Do A System Scan and Save A Log File (first button). Save it in Notepad and then send it to me.

Here is the direct link: http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

Click on the green downward facing arrow with "Download Now" next to it.

The link is to what spyware was added. It said I have 11 infected areas because of this Trojan horse virus or spyware. I am not the best with computers so excuse me sounding stupid. Thanks again bro, I appreciate it. I have had a few e mails saying they had to deal with the exact same thing. Using a spyware thing cleared it up I guess each time. Is there a good free one that will take care of it. All the ones I have found want a paid subscription for the service, and I am broke as a joke.

After you scan the log file should have popped up automatically in Notepad. Save it to your desktop.

Can you access sites like mcafee.com? If you can't, then it's fixable by downloading a program called combofix.exe. If this is your case, I can send it to you.

Go Mike, I went to the site you posted, I can go to the main page if that means anything. Thanks
