KEN ERICKSON 3 3/8 swell center Congress pen

SOLD $725 shipped in conus, Paypal fees included

Recently Mike Robuck sent me a box full of knives to look over. Thanks Mike! One was the inspiration for this knife. It was a small pearl scaled swell center four blade congress. I decided to make this knife along those lines with obvious changes. This is a 3 3/8 swell center Congress PEN knife. In keeping with a Congress the master is a sheepfoot, ground very thin, cut swedges and thin long pull. The secondary blade is a small pen blade with standard pull. Both blades run off of one spring with the pen blade using a catch bit. The pulls on this are an easy 4 on the 1-10 scale, appropriate for a knife of this size and pattern. While the pen sits very low, its pleasant to open. I believe this to be a good opportunity to add a seldom seen pattern in handmade slipjoints to your collection. You can say "I will take it" here, pm or email. Shipped priority US mail, insured in a protective zippered case. Thanks for looking.

Integral 410 frame/bolsters "A seam will never be seen"

Wow, Ken, I'd say you pulled that off in fine form. I like that you used the same shield. So the four blade version is next? :)

Thanks for the kind words Mike. I am getting my courage up to do that little four blade congress. These little knives are very unforgiving when doing the grinds etc.

That's a beauty, Ken. Looks like it was transported here in a time machine!:cool:

Ken, you capture the vintage look like no one else:thumbup: Nary a day goes by that I don't admire my "Grail Knife" from you:)

I love it! Congress with ebony - mmm mmm mmm. (Hey that sounds kinky).

Do you have a pic of the back spring?

Thanks for the comments guys! It means a lot to get comments such as "capture the vintage look" and "time machine".

Mike,

Added picture of backspring, I knew I was missing something! :o

Very nice classic look. Love that sheepfoot blade.
Very nice work. Someone is going to be very lucky to get this and be very happy to have it.

Very nicely done. That is one tight squeeze fitting those blades in there. The grinds you put on those blades are gorgeous.

Ken, that is super. Shield flows perfectly. I'm sooooo jealous of whoever ends up with this one. I'd snatch that sucker up in a heartbeat if I didn't have something special on the horizon with you next year ;)

Ken,
I saw this one earlier today and had to drop back in for another look. That knife would have looked good 100 years ago, and will look good 100 years from now. Good taste never goes out of style.

Man, that looks like the exact knife I received my first self inflicted cut from when I was about five or so. Blue slabs instead of black and no S/S accent on them. Other than that though, no major differences. Thanks for the moment of reminiscence. :)

Yes Ken,,I love it an I have an ebony handled knife coming up next month for a customer ,already sold,, but I have two or three congress patterns that I've been putting off for years to make ,so now I think you inspired me to try an do it. thanks to all our knife makers who help an inspire one another to do better with each knife we make ..Joe
