KEN ERICKSON MUSKRAT 3 7/8" CLOSED

SOLD $800 Shipped CONUS , Paypal fees included

This Muskrat is based on the Remington R4593. When making this knife I wanted to keep it as true to form as the very classic R4593. This knife however is covered in yellow linen Micarta, a material that I can in-vision Remington using had it been available at the time. This knife features CPM154 flat ground blades and spring. This knife, as is the R4593 is a single spring knife with double catch bits. No half-stops with a medium to medium firm pull. The knife will ship with one of Al Dodge's belt sheaths. You can say "I will take it" here, pm or email. Thanks for your time!

Ken, that sure is a wonderful package you put together. Exceptional.

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

I have a hard time capturing on film just how nice this Micarta is.

I was playing with the macro settings on my camera, here are a few additional photo's.

I received a email from a very astute forum member asking about this knife. Here is the pertinent portion of that email.

If you'll allow me a couple thoughts:

1. The sheath is a nice touch.

2. I think a shield would have dressed this knife up a bit and made it look more upscale (which it is, all the way).

3. I can't tell because images lie, but is the run-up on one side a little higher than the other? (It also looks like the nicks are in slightly different positions gauging solely from where the blades cross in relation to the nick when closed.)

I wanted to address this as I feel it is noteworthy as to why I made the knife the way I did. I wanted to keep true to the Remington R4593. The reason that the run-ups are different height is that when Remington made this knife they used the same blade for both the mark side and pile side. It was cost affective for them to not have to make patterns and dies for a pile side blade. This also accounts for the location of the nail pull on the pile side, same blade, but different frame shape on the pile side. Many other production makers of Muskrats will also relieve the frame for the thumbnail to access the nail pull on the pile sides. Remington opted out on this also. I also kept true to the shield delete on this knife. While perhaps dressing the knife up, I wanted to build the knife as if Remington built it, only using Micarta covers.

Thanks for the looks on this knife and I am glad to have received the email with these observations!

This one is now sold.

Thanks for all the kind comments and thoughtful emails on this knife!
They are appreciated.
