Thats one of the best hunter designs Ive ever seen, and in my experience BG42 is a super stainless steel for taking a very sharp edge without much fuss and holding it very well.
The blade is just the right length for a variety of field dressing and butchering tasks on animals up to elk size. It offers a nice sweep of belly for skinning, the point configuration is much better than a trailing point for starting skin cuts, the serrations are well-located for sawing through joint cartilage, and the location of the finger choil doesnt keep the user from choking up and getting good purchase right behind the cutting edge for pull cuts. Handle appears to be very ergonomically contoured for use in any position, and that coral micarta is a very attractive and durable material. This is one of those if I only had one hunting knife design propositions, and is as good as it gets compared to anything Ive seen. Someone needs to buy this knife and put it to good useopening day is not far off.
I didnt know Ken was a hunter, but either he knows a lot about hunting or he is being advised by someone who does. Great, great piece. Im surprised a manufacturer hasnt picked that design up for production.
