Ken Onion Ripple mid-tech

I'm not sure, this is what I found on the Plaza Cutlery site, http://plazacutlery.com/Onion/OnionMainpage.htm
"Blades came in and were not acceptable so will be sometime first quarter next year hopefully!"

Who is making the knife then if KO and co. are not.
That doesn't make any sense to me. "Blades came in and were not acceptable" ??
I realize a "mid-tech" is not a custom but I figured the blades would be made in-house or something.
I have no idea what kind of shop they have or if they just do the assembly only reason I'm asking.
Is someone else making the rest of the knife?

Usually, with midtechs, maker just assembles and makes sure F&F is up to his standards. It's not uncommon when all parts, including the blade, are coming from different shops.

I wouldn't call the JYD Pro series a "mid-tech" by common standards...I think Tim is doing the vast majority of the work on those by hand...but I could be wrong.

I thought mid-tech could mean anything from the blades being ground elsewhere, to everything being cut and and the maker doing finishing touches. XM-18s are considered mid-techs and as far as I know, everything is done by Rick except the blade grinds. everything else up to the screws are made by him.

JYD's blades are outsourced, that I know for a fact. Lahars, however are handground by Tim, so prices are a little higher on those.
