I saw a new knife from Ken Onion in Blade Magazine's calender. According to his website it's called the boa. This, however was the extent of the information i could find on it. Anybody know of it? If so, do you like it?

I hear Kershaw is going to debut their Boa at SHOT 2000. Should have 440V blades. As for the custom veresion, I really like it. Fit and finish is excellent and the flipper thing in conjunction with the Speed Safe make the blade very easy to deply at a momoent's notice. Ken did a bang up job on this one!

I read an earlier thread where Ken said he
used a new lock on the Boa....anyone know
what kind of lock he's referring to?

Thanks for the interest,

The Boa knife is part of my millenium line up. I'd give you specs but no two are really a like with exception to the design its self . I make them with and without holes some in solid titanium some G 10 and lots of different blade steels , Damascus , 440-C, 440-V, 420-V,Talonite. All come with the flipper and speed safe.

I'll have a few at the Las vegas classic . other than that it may be a little difficult to get as I have almost 400 E-mails about this knife since the calender. Kinda caught me with my pants down and I have no elves. So right now I'm trying to figure out how I can take care of all interested parties without compromising the work .

The new Kershaw one will have one of my new locks called the Stud lock which is ambidexterous as well as out of the way
It is also quite strong. It will feature 440-V blade steel or 440-C we are still undecided as people can't seem to sharpen 440-V. We have even discussed BG42 which is a great compromise however cost is an issue .
Handles will be Aluminum textured and anodized. And thats all I can say ,probly said to much. Oh well hope I answered all your questions .

Aloha!!! Ken Onion

Ken, thanks for that information. No doubt I'll be waiting for one to add to the collection. If you're taking votes, I'll vote 440V or BG42. I have no problem sharpening the Random Task.

I sure would like to see a Boa in Talonite at the show in Las Vegas. The one on top would do nicely.

I am going to have to start saving up.

This is totally cool!
I fell in lust with the Boa when the scan of one showed up here on the Forums.
To hear that Kershaw will be doing the honors sounds most excellent! They did a great job with the Speed Safes.

Ken stick with the 440V or the BG42. Outstanding steels.
Outstanding news!

If a man says something in the woods and there are no women there to correct him, is he still wrong?

Ken, I've not had a problem sharpening the 440V of my Random task either, but I'd much rather have the BG42 steel, if they haven't made up their minds, push them towards that?

Thanks for responding. One more question for Ken. Any specific dates? I'm dying to get my hands on one. Also, i'd like to cast my vote for bg42.
