You just don’t see enough Kepharts around these parts so here's another of my tributes to the iconic blade in 1/8" 80CRV2. A couple of years ago someone asked about a shorter version than my standard 5” blade so this is one of them.

I stayed as faithful to the original as I could, including the profile (of course), lightly convexed to the spine and flared front scales. This one has a hint of a leaf shaped blade. In general "everything that needs to be there is, and nothing is there that doesn't need to be" (paraphrased from one of the articles I studied).

Dimensions 9 3/8” OAL and 1 1/2” tall, 1 1/4” blade– 4 3/8” from tip to scales – Hand sanded to P1200 grit. Edge before sharpening was .01” or so and it is very sharp. Balances behind the front pin.

The scales are Mesquite sanded to 1200 grit with red fiber liners and 3/16” stainless pins. Accented with powdered Opalite. The handle feels great in my average size hand and will fill a larger hand as well. The Tracker sheath is a snug fit with a retention cam.

$170 to your US door, and of course your satisfaction is my only priority. I can accept paypal G&S, check or MO, and the price includes fees and free priority shipping in the US.

Thanks so much for looking! Please feel free to comment, ask anything here or via PM.

Hi fellas, thanks for the kind compliment. Yeah, this injury wasn't from the Kephart. Long ago I posted a pic in the knifemakers section and some wise man told me never grind the bevels before drilling the tang holes and always wear heavy gloves (the helicopter effect). I've been pretty good about that but the other night I was drilling without gloves. By the time I noticed I needed gloves I was nearly done so just kept going. I chose poorly and it helicoptered on me. The damage was not insignificant but no stitches or anything, just the home remedies. Kind of feel lucky about that! Thanks for your concern.

John , does you drill press not have slots and holes in the table ? I put in a big bolt in the slot to catch the blade to stop it from playing helicopter .

Hi Jack O'Neill Jack O'Neill yes but I've got a 2 axis vice on top of the table for drilling guard slots etc. But I could probably fit a 1" dowel on top of a bolt to get the height I need, probably 5-6".

I have a Kephart from John and I will point out why I chose his.
Tip is fine enough to get inside of notches for carving.
Polish on blade makes cleanup very easy for before and after food prep.
Blade is thin and very slicey.
Handle contours are secure while the handle is also "melted" like a used bar of soap- no hotspots but still has excellent grip.
Excellent leather.
Fit and finish.
Value- where can you buy so much quality work for this $$$ ??
