Photos Kepharts...They just Work

This was my take on a Kephart and one of my first knives. This one is in 3V and it has served me well.

You'd think after my being a carpenter for at least half my life I'd like wood handles but noooooo, I'm a canvas micarta type guy for hard use knives. I love the grip. Wood can get slippery when damp.
I've always been different.
About the only knife I have with wood slabs is my BK 62 and I'd love green canvas micarta on it.
On my docket/workbench is a small chubby kephart-ish knife I'm planning on using a nice piece of vintage green & black micarta. It's going to have an Ole timey Old school Bad A** look to it.
Dark, muted colors, and Brass. :D

I just don't know in my head If I am going to put liners on it, or what color.
Part of me wants thin red ones?

Orange?

I'm still working on grinding down my BK 62 with the zombie green liners. I'm real close and decided to give it a rest after I nicked the tang a few times. Sparks don't come from wood and plastic...do they?

Damn Sam, that's beautiful. I'm a micarta kinda guy but I love walnut on any knife but especially a Kephart!

Thank you! I will have to double check, but I think the scales were lacewood. I remember it was beautiful stuff.

Here's one with micarta and hand sanded finish. Probably my favorite configuration.

I've bought with the intention of using but other shiny sharp things got in the way. Always ended up selling for the next newest one. Finally got a user I want and this will be one of the 3 that go with me this fall and winter on camps and hunts.

I know it's nothing fancy, but my little Old Hickory "Fish & Small Game" is a great/fun little $25 knfe...and it sure looks like a Kephart to me...
I thought the same thing. Its that little tab that acts as a bit of a guard.

Another inexpensive knife that feels very Kephart-ish to me is the Green River 4215 Fish Knife. It is a clip, not a spear, but the point is not far from the center line. Five-inch blade with a four-inch handle gives it a compact feel, very handy and useful at a variety of tasks. It’s not a Kephart, and doesn’t pretend, but when I have it in hand, it feels like a Kephart.37FA14BA-9B33-4A9B-837B-32D9412089C9.jpeg
