Heck yeah! A birdy already mentioned the pattern but no details so I will prepare my eyes for the visual love I am about to receive.
Wow, all I can say is that there are a lot of loose lips around here...I'm just sayin'...
Okay, let me set it up in stages...
After Kerry and I hit some snags on another project we were working on we decided to shift gears a bit and go in another direction.
(One I had wanted to go in for a long time so it was actually welcome on several fronts.)
I sent Kerry this image as what I kinda sorta had in my mind's eye:
I've always loved the Eureka Jack since I first laid eyes on it and I always loved this interpretation of Reese's because I felt he captured an authentic vintage look with it.
Now, bear in mind that Kerry has never built this pattern, but
daunted he was not.
I asked Kerry to alter the pen blade (per what has become a standard request on many of my knives) to a modified wharncliffe / "zulu" or something approximating it.
So, as things began progressing, Kerry sent me a few images...
And finally, these today...
Now, I haven't held this beauty in my hand (yet) but the images alone show that Kerry truly captured the "feel" I was going for.
I left it to Kerry to sift through the scale material he had at his disposal (bearing the above in mind) and this is what he told me about the bone you see in the images:
"The bone came from Tony and he said he bought it at a show years ago in KY. The exact origin of it is unknow but it looks like old Boker bone to me and it was in the shape of a large gunstock. I picked out a set that matched and there you have it."
I've been really excited about this project and now that it's approaching fruition I have no doubts that it was a venture well worth waiting for.
Thanks, Kerry for all the hard work and what I'm sure will turn out to be another of your knives I will treasure for years to come.
