Kerry Hampton Knives

oboyoboyoboyoboy...!!!

I was just lookin' up in the sky and noticed that smoke signals sent by the Wilfred Works night shift just reached western NC and (if I read 'em right) state that something will be heading my way in the next few days!!!

How cool is that? :cool::D

Hey Elliott, even the cool James Dean gives that news a thumbs up for coolness! Can't wait to see it!

Thanks, Luciano!

Want me to share a couple of teaser pix that I downloaded from the ether?

:D You must have seen the smoke coming from my surface grinder when I blew up the phase converter. :p It's all good...I can stick a stick in it and make it go.

That's some fine sig line material right there. :D

True enough. I suppose it will work for some medical issues as well. :D

Heck yeah! A birdy already mentioned the pattern but no details so I will prepare my eyes for the visual love I am about to receive. :)

Wow, all I can say is that there are a lot of loose lips around here...I'm just sayin'...;)

Okay, let me set it up in stages...

After Kerry and I hit some snags on another project we were working on we decided to shift gears a bit and go in another direction.
(One I had wanted to go in for a long time so it was actually welcome on several fronts.)

I sent Kerry this image as what I kinda sorta had in my mind's eye:

I've always loved the Eureka Jack since I first laid eyes on it and I always loved this interpretation of Reese's because I felt he captured an authentic vintage look with it.

Now, bear in mind that Kerry has never built this pattern, but daunted he was not.

I asked Kerry to alter the pen blade (per what has become a standard request on many of my knives) to a modified wharncliffe / "zulu" or something approximating it.

So, as things began progressing, Kerry sent me a few images...

And finally, these today...

Now, I haven't held this beauty in my hand (yet) but the images alone show that Kerry truly captured the "feel" I was going for.

I left it to Kerry to sift through the scale material he had at his disposal (bearing the above in mind) and this is what he told me about the bone you see in the images:

"The bone came from Tony and he said he bought it at a show years ago in KY. The exact origin of it is unknow but it looks like old Boker bone to me and it was in the shape of a large gunstock. I picked out a set that matched and there you have it."

I've been really excited about this project and now that it's approaching fruition I have no doubts that it was a venture well worth waiting for.

Thanks, Kerry for all the hard work and what I'm sure will turn out to be another of your knives I will treasure for years to come.

Thanks, Elliott. I'll have some more pix for you tomorrow.

Looks great, Elliott and Kerry. I really like that bone.

Thanks, Mike. I'd also like to thank Tony for making the pattern available, providing Kerry the scales and of course for all the input and tutelage he has provided in helping not only with this knife (and maker) but so many others around the world (many of which we never really hear about). Here's to you, Tony!:cool:

Looks great to me! It is always a really great thing to get a package in the mail from Wilfred Works
Fantastic job as usual Kerry & Congrat's Elliott
-Vince :)

That is a really nice knife, the bone is just beautiful. Awesome work Kerry and congrats Elliott, you have the nicest knives!

Thought some of you might enjoy reading Bernard Levine's writeup on the Eureka Jack from his LGIV which so many of us have come to depend on:

(Notice the shield on the NYK Co. And it's interesting that Kerry mentioned that the bone looked like old Boker bone to him.)

LOL...lots of "seems tos" and "may haves" in that write up from the guy that preaches "read the knife" :D

Maybe it was unclear if he was in the fiction or non-fiction stacks!

At any rate, at least we know who you copied it from! ;)

:D
