Kerry Hampton Knives

Have the knife in pocket now, I can not begin to describe just how perfect this knife is. While Kerry is known also for his photographic abilities, he really did not do this one justice (sorry Kerry) The ivory is near white and just beautiful, even the inside of the spring is mirror polished. The knife could not have been any better. I just had to update after getting my paws on it and doing a very complete inspection. It will pop the hairs off your arm just holding it above skin level. Kerry should go full time into the business, I know the quality is up there with the best of the best.

I wish my photo skills were better so I could show off how well Kerry did with this one. Perhaps I will get Coop to do this one and one other I have been meaning to send off.

Thanks Again for the snow in Alabama Kerry, you outdid yourself.

These are the type of knives I really like. What a job he does. Are these models very expensive?

What a great thread! I was honored to meet both Kerry and Tony Bose
while traveling out there way and I think that was about the time he started
working/making knives, Kerry they LOOK terrific!!!

BUT, as for that image of Kerry? I think that's a hollywood stand in, as I remember
him being a little bit older and a lot more character, I found this photo I was able
to take while there,

Thanks guys.

Duckman's(hope you don't mind me saying)getting this one and he is part of this wild experiment of using moose antler on a few knives I have made for him. He sent me this 100yo moose antler about a year ago to chop up and use as handle material. So far, it has turned out to be fairly stable, or I should say, stable enough.

FYI...antler material of all kinds needs some time to "settle down" before it's put on a knife. It's slabbed and sized slightly oversized days before it's ready to be used. The stag must not be allowed to get hot while sanding/sizing. When then knife is ready to be put together, the slabs are flattened and sized and glued to the liner. Gap filling CA glue is used for a fast bond so that the stag pieces can be shaped a little bit to the liners before the knife is put together. Ideally, the knife needs to be put together THEN! It's the pinning of the knife that keeps the stag in place, not the glue.

Any natural handle material will move a little bit with atmospheric changes, but these steps prior to putting it in place minimizes the movement to very slight amounts. As a maintenance and protective, lemon oil keeps out moisture that can create movement problems.

Cant wait to get it and put that moose to the test. I have a couple carving knifes made from moose antler and they have been very stable.

Don't you know he does not have a list, it is a huge filing cabinet filled with binders of names, once a month, he reaches in without looking and pulls out a sheet. Then he puts the sheet on the wall of his shop and throws a dart at it. Whoever's name is hit gets next in line.:D

Sorry G2,
Better send in name lots of times, more chances of getting darted.:D
