Just curious if anyone here got the DLC Tilt that just sold for $750.00 tonight??

I picked one up recently and just fricken love it :)

Russ....

I feel kinda dirty, but selling a couple dam skylines and a SHOT show grip on the bay has pretty much paid for my first Busse, so....

I A-B-ed my SW TILT! with a 0777 from my local dealer's stock several weeks ago. The salesmen, my wife, and I agreed - the TILT! was the better knife, considering it's quality of build, materials, smoothness, feeling of strength, etc. My wife and a saleman agreed that the 0777 was cooler looking. My wife bought me the TILT!, and won't disclose what her 'special sale price' was, other than she could have bought two of them and a nice lunch/dinner for us for what that 0777 lists for. I love my wife - and the knives she buys me as gifts. And, the TILT! came with VANNAX75 steel - they didn't have to 'settle' for a lesser steel.

I am not shocked about the TILT!'s price on the secondary market.

Stainz (Mine has a home!)

I guess there are 3 main factors that made the Tilt's price skyrocket as it is today.

Unique design.
Tilt is from what i consider, after the 3500 Speedform, the most groundbreaking release from Kershaw
in terms of quality in a production-level knife. Based on the backstory, Kershaw also met with a very difficult time producing this knife.

Very limited run.
Especially 205 for the DLC version.

Blade Steel.
First time Vanax 75 was used in a knife. What's more, Bohler no longer make this steel (everything is now Vanax35 aka Vanax).
So besides the Tilt, I don't know what other knife uses this steel.

OMG! How bad do you want a Tilt when you pay 750$? I always wonder what those people did when they where around 300. Sleeping? Seriously, I really wanna know, I mean this knife was announced in 2010 IIRC.

Maybe they didn't know about the knife. Maybe they didn't have the money and they do now. Maybe they were into Spyderco's before that. Maybe they were overseas and nobody would ship to an APO, who is to say? Obviously they saw something they wanted, they wanted it badly and the fact that it's no longer produced makes it well worth it to them.

There are people who buy bottles of wine that sold for $14.00 once that are now well over $1,000 simply because a few people overpaid and then, a reputation was formed.

humility, try it ;)

Because I think there are so few people that got them when they were avil and want to part with them no matter what the price. To some, these are priceless because for no amount of money will they let their knife go.... If you had one, what's the lowest you will let yours go for?

I have one, and there is no way I'm selling it.........Unless my life literally depends on me selling it.

The Tilt was what? just under 700 pieces produced.

I've seen quite a few cases of oversharpened tips, number stamp errors mostly happening on the SW version.
So imo, the DLC ones are a bit better made overall than the Stonewash version in terms of FnF.
And being twice as rare as a SW doesn't help matters, so I'm not surprise people are clamoring for it.
