Hey guys, i come across a Kershaw Barrage at walmart today and i`m not familiar with this model. If any of you have experience with this knife i would like to hear your opinions. Thanks in advance

Love it! Perfect size, great grip, easy open, black clip, not too heavy, great blade profile. And great price. Get one.

Also, try a PackRat. A little sharper out of the box, cuts a little better, opens as fast as anything, great ergo handle as well. Maybe $20 more.

A neat little framelock folder that was designed for Wal-Mart to sell. I don't think you will find info about it at the Kershaw site. I had one and found it to be a really nice knife, don't think you can wrong with one.:)

I posted a whittling/cutting review of various knives at this link: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=682141

The Barrage was one of the best performers. I paid about $35 for mine at Walmart and I think it's a great knife.

I was fortunate enough to get one from Thomas to do a review on. If I didn't already have two Shallots I would have kept it, but I didn't really need it and I figured my father in law would get more use out of it.

Here's some reading for you....

My only complaint was it was a bit hard to open one handed at first, but it broke in nicely over time. ( I picked it up off the counter top the other day and was looking at it while over at my father in laws)

I have one also (from Wally) and it does fine. It happens to be in my rotation now and I have carried it recently. The frame lock does fine also, it locks tight and there is no blade play in mine. Isn't this a Ken O. design?

It a cool knife for the price...found such good deals on EBAY that i bought 2 for less than the price of one on the walmsrt website...go me!

Where did you see these prices on eBay? I believe KershawGuy here on BF has the lowest prices on that model.

Ebay is a role of the dice...in concept u can get anything for a super low price..I bought one of my barrage for 11 bucks NIB..i was the highest bidder...I recently bought a Kershaw Groove Knife NIB for 20 bucks...so u can score some good deals...

In house design done for Wal-mart to begin with.
Looks as though it will become (already has if I recall) a catalog item.
Using the 14C28N Sandvik

Other variations include
2445CKT Black Blade/Black handle
2445DAM Damascus blade

Thanks guys for the replies. I went and bought one today and i`m very impressed. Only one thing bothers me, this knife is hard to open with the thumb studs, they really make my thumb sore after a short period. I might try putting some CLP in the pivot and see if that helps. I might even try to back out the pivot screw a hair and try that also if i can find out what size torx head it has. Overall a very nice piece, just have to find a fix for the hard opening issue.

I went and picked one up today. The only issue i have is that the blade is hard to deploy with the thumb studs. My thumb is raw from trying to open it. I might try to put some CLP in the pivot and see if that helps. I might even try to back out the pivot screw a little to see if that helps. Does anyone know what size torx head is on this knife?

My kershaws were hard to deploy with the thumbstuds for awhile, too, but after repeated use they loosened up and are pretty easy now. Mine also have the finger-thingy, though, which is what I mostly use. Don't know if the barrage has that, but most of the kershaws do.

That was the only issue I had with it. Loosening the pivot screw may help, just don't do it too much, and like I said, it will break in and get easier.

It should get better after a little use. Some lube might help. One thing about the thumb studs. This knife is a little different from most. If you apply pressure in 90 degree angle instead of 45 degrees it seems to work better.

It's a thin knife and the studs are short to stay within the overall width but I got used to it and think that overall it is a good design.

Just keep opening and closing it. The Torx size is a T-8 for the Pivot and T-6 for body and clip screws (usually)

I just bought the Tanto Blur (Walmart) and the OD Green CPM-154 because I loved the quality of the Tanto so much.

The Tanto was a little stiff to open at first but I squirted some Breakfree CLP into the pivot and opened about 15 times and it loosed right up. Both are wonderful knives by the way!

Is the Barrage an AO?

Vinny

Edit: I looked up the Barrage and it appears to be manual. Sorry for bringing the Blur into the discussion but I thought the Barrage was AO and would be much like the Blur regarding the stiff opening. But the point on applying oil, from other posters, and loosening the Pivot slightly still applies.

I like my 2445st. Thanks Thomas! I could do without the "st", plain blades for me.
