I was looking at some of the Newer Blurs Kersaw has out in hopes of finding a replacement for when I finally destroy mine when I noticed something strange. The drop point blurs in upgraded steels such as s30v and elmax have a more "swoopy" plunge grinds that the standard blurs. Some also appear to be flat ground instead of hollow ground. This is also true with the od green handled model in sandvik steel. The tanto blurs in bdz 1 all have the standard straight plunge line. I have researched this a little and cant find an answer as to why. Do you any of you guys know? And I know many of you probably have a full collection of these things so how do these different grind compare in cutting tasks and ease of sharpening?
I understand them doing the plunge grind different for aesthetics but do not understand why they would go with a flat grind instead of the hollow grind, which in my experience cuts far better.
Thanks for any replies! :)
