Kershaw Blur Blade Steel Question

Just looked at the KAI website. They say $10 blade replacement for a broken blade. I will send an email to see if it covers user error like improper sharpening.

I'm pretty sure that as long as you pay for it, they will replace it. Just the fact that you are replacing a blade means that something nasty was being done with it, worse than improper sharpening. I don't think they'll let you keep the old blade though and it has to be sent it.

TBH, I kind of like the profile of the blade. I'm not the biggest fan of tantos and I would almost say that the rounded edge is a nice change (though the way it was executed does look pretty gnarly). It depends on what you want, what you'll use it for etc. It definitely could use some TLC though. Let us know how it goes!

Okay... KAI has great customer service. Just got an email back from KAI Customer Service. Here is part of it:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. In response to your email, all of our quality Kershaw knives carry a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects to the original owner whom may send the knife to us for evaluation and possible repair or replacement. The warranty does not cover normal signs of wear from use, a blade break due to improper use such as prying, dropping or damages incurred while using the knife in a capacity for which it was not designed. If your knife blade broke under these circumstances, we offer a broken blade replacement service in which you have the option to send your knife in with a check for $10.00US made out to Kershaw knives and we will replace the blade for you.

So basically I can send in this beat up knife and get a new blade put on it. That is amazing. Not sure if I want to go that route yet. I still have to see it in hand to determine what I do with it. My first dealing with their customer service was very positive so far though...
