Hello,

I have never carried a folding knife before, and after researching a lot, I came to the conclusion that the Blur would be the best choice. I am also sorta considering the Ontario Rat 2/1, the Kershaw Leek, the Spyderco Tenacious and and Spyderco Delica 4.

Could you guys and gals tell me if the Blur would be the best choice, and if not, which of the ones listed above would be the best? Also, I live in the city.

Thanks!

It seems a bit on the expensive side though, which is why I was reluctant to really consider the delica 4. Is it worth it, though, for the price?

Do a search as I am not allowed to post about certain big online retailers. You will find that the Knockout is only slightly more than a Blur.

I personally think so. But that's just my opinion. Some would be up in arms if I said it was better than a delica

Just get the Blur . Very iconic knife and available widely used and in many variations . Great EDC . This is mine with it's daddy , the ZT Scavenger .

My first real knife was a Blur. I carried it for several years and loved it. Rat 1 is a fine knife as well but I wasnt a fan of the AUS 6 steel. Now they have it in D2 steel which IMO is much better. I also currently own a Delica 4 and Tenacious which I rotate in my edc carry. IMO you cant go wrong with either of these 4.

All right, thanks everyone for answering, I think that I'm gonna get the Blur. But another question arises: the S30V steel or the Sandvik 14C28N steel? The Sandvik 14C28N steel is cheaper...

Edit:

Never mind guys, did some research, and as my first knife, Sandvik 14C28N is good enough. Anyway, thanks again everyone for answering and have a good day!

It's plenty good enough ! Enjoy your knife .

I had to file down the unused (lefty) thumbstud on my blur so that it wouldn't tear up my pocket. I lightly filed the other thumbstud too. They are sharp. Other than that, it's a great design.

I love the Blur, and IMHO the convex reverse-scalloped serrations available on the non-tanto Blurs and a couple of other Kershaw/ZT knives, are the best serrations around. See the Scavenger in DocJD's post above.

The Blur was one of my first good knives. The Delica is a great knife too. So is the knockout. Just be aware the Blur is assisted opener which can be a bit of a pain in the ass.

If you mean difficult to open , if you push the thumb stud more in a forward direction rather than sideways it seems to open effortlessly .

No I more meant how the torsion bars get worn out and break. If the OP decides to go with the Blur I recommend he calls Kershaw customer service and tells them that his torsion bar broke (even though it didn't yet) so that they will send hom a few replacements. This will help sorr out any eventualities.

The Blur is a great knife though. Excellent blade for the money. One of my favourite Kershaws.

Not a lefty but did the same time to my Blur. I also removed the clip, laid wax paper over it, and ironed it to flatten the gripe insert a bit. Reinstalled the clip and it slides in and out of the pocket much better.

I have all of them except the Delica 4. I love the blur and I happen to have in three different steels. I would recommend the S30V. It holds an edge much longer, and they are not hard to find. I don't want to mention any names but you can figure it out. You wont regret spending the xtra money. The problem with your list of choices is that they are all good knives for the money. The Kershaw Leek is more of a gentleman's knife and has a very sharp tip, not made for heavy duty use. If you get the s30v that knocks out the tenacious. By the way the Kershaw Camber is exactly the same size as the blur only it is a flipper it is also assisted and the base model
comes in S30V. If your not familiar with the metal it is the same as they use for the base model of the Paramilitary 2 which is an incredible knife. I hope this info has been helpful.

I forgot to mention that if you rather have a manual without assist you can take the torsion bar and it becomes a manual
