Kershaw Blur: How much money would you spend?

I've never had a lock problem with any of my Blurs... including some FrankenBlurs I've cobbled together, as well as blems. The Blur has been a very popular knife for quite some time. I don't think that would have been the case if there really was a major functional design flaw (like a weak lock).

I've beaten and abused my blur. I've basically dismantled everything cosmetic from so many cars I can't count. I've busted open many compartments. I've cut many tires. It's been soaked in water. It's been covered in sand. It's had many unknown chemicals covering it. I've carried it for six years now and it's never failed me. It's dented. It's scratched. It's been resharpened so many times I can't count. The dlc coating on the blade is still there. The grip material is still there. The original pocket clip and screws and tension bar are still there. And I carry it alongside my ZT 0600 to this day. Even if the lowest price you can find it for is 70 bucks, it's worth it. I feel cheesy saying it, but I respect that knife. Other knives will come and go, but that one has been by my side for so long and has been through so much bullshit with me that I wouldn't give it up. Seriously, it's been through more with me than my wife has.

I also recommend Kershawguy. I have a few knives that I have bought from him. In fact this thread made me go visit his sight again and I made a knee jerk purchase, a ts tanto blur blem.

I was doing so well too, and hadn't bought a knife in a couple of months. Oh well, compared to what I have been buying, forty dollars is chump change.

I carried a Blur for four years and never had a problem with the lock. The Blur is a worker, plain and simple.

I also think that Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel is underrated. I like it alot.

Mars51--- look at the angle on the thumb stud, press up not out that will work much better and not hurt! :-) I got on a Benchmade kick the last few months (7) :-P but loved the S30V blur so much I snagged another on Amazon for less than $60! At work I carry some cheaper Kershaws which are great beater knives and if you ride an ATV 50mi / day you won't cry as much if lost! I have compared Blurs to the Benchmade Volli side by side several times because I thought I wanted one and decided I would just keep the Blur and move on to a 940 Osborne !

Count me in as another who would strongly recommend kershawguy.com, and another who has put a Blur to work for a while without one hint at lock failure.

It's hard to justify paying more than one needs to, but even $71 is a bargain. I don't think you can find a better knife in S30v for cheaper (Buck's Vantage Pro is cheaper but is known for the liner lock wearing out relatively quickly), and judging it versus a Benchmade 940, which is all around the same materials, you're getting the same materials for literally less than half the price (and I say that as someone with like half a dozen 940s).

Amazon is the only website I purchase from. But if you go with Amazon, buy directly from Amazon and not other Amazon sellers. I've never had a problem with Amazon if you buy directly from them. Best prices I can find online (when I got my desert sand blur it was $55), and it's usually free shipping. Other sellers usually have worse prices, you have to pay for shipping, and they take longer to ship. If you go with Amazon you'll save money and won't be disappointed. You can get the S30V Blur for $68 on Amazon.

Like we've never heard this before. You miss the point completely about supporting the smaller businesses that in turn support the community. Do you think Amazon actually cares about the community in the least?
