Hi tonym1 -

There is a recent thread here about the blur - most people really like them.

I have the exact same knife you are considering that I bought from kershawguy as a blem (he is great to deal with by the way... ).

I really like the knife. Everything about it is quality built, and I could not find a blemish on my example.

The handle is very light and the blade is relatively heavy, so with the spring assisted opening the knife gives some "recoil" feedback on deployment. That is not to say the knife will shoot out of your hands, but you do have to make sure you are holding onto it when you snap it open.

The only ding I have on the knife is the thumb studs - they are very sharp on the two examples I have (bought one for a friend as well) - and they will not only tear up your thumb but also your pants.

I took a dremel to them and ground them down on my buddy's at his request and he is now 100% happy with the knife, using it as his EDC.

The thumb studs in combination with the track-tec inserts make the knife harder to pull out of pocket, and even with the studs softened up, the track-tec still grips your pocket.

The clip allows the end of the handle to show - I would prefer a deep carry but that would make it even more difficult to pull out.

I really like the knife, and at the steal of a deal you can get it from kershawguy it is a top-notch bargain in my opinion.

That was my first zdp-189 edge, and it takes a bit of work to polish it - I am still hitting it with a DMT extra fine. I cannot speak to edge holding ability as I have not used the blade for too much work yet.

best regards -

I highly recommend the Blur. If you want one with the new composite blade, don't wait too long, they were a limited run and are becoming harder to find. The blem sold by Kershawguy would be a good deal.

I bought two from Dave ( the Kershaw guy), and I only got them a few days ago, but theya re great, and on one I could not find any thing at all wrong, and the other had a minor imprefection....

For the money, it can't be beat (well the Avalanche is pretty dang close). I love my
S60V Blur. They are durable and well optioned in regards to blade material. Heard really nice things about the ZDP too.

Do it man.

Yup, the Composite Blur is one very fine knife. You should definitely pick one up!
Fit and finish on this one is better than my SG-2 Blur.

I just scored a s60v Blem (green handle) from a BF forumite and I think it is my new EDC for long-term. I like that it's slim, light, great looking and awesome flat ground drop point blade shape. It arrived without torsion bar and I don't plan on replacing it since it opens very fast anyhow. It fills the niche between the smaller/lighter duty Leek and the much larger/heavier models Kershaw puts out. My blem had a slightly bad ground edge, but only on one side. It is still very sharp and the previous owner didn't use it as far as I can tell. I also sanded down the edge of the studs ever so slightly. BTW, best thumb stud design I've ever owned and I wish Kershaw would put this style stud on more models.

After 3+ years of carrying knives, I always come back to the blur. I think the thumbstuds are perfect, the blade shape is very useful, the handle is ergonomic, pocket clip placement is great...etc.

I don't like recurves, AO, and I don't care for liner locks. If those three interest you, I'm sure it's a good knife.

Yes, good blade shape. The blade tip has a nice sharp point without being too thin.

I just got my Brown ZDP Blur from KershawGuy, and I love it, It will be my EDC for awhile, although the blade is a little off center on mine, but it does not rub so it doesn't bother me. Great knife!

I only have the tactical (Tanto) version, but I'm a really big fan of the knife. I'm thinking about getting one of the other models, without the serrations and tanto point, because the rest of the knife is superbly designed.

Haha..i got the same "non"-blem from Kershawguy and it is a very nice knife. My only issue is the thumbstuds which are super sharp and catch onto everything. I took a file to them and now it's all good. :D

Another thing worth mentioning is that one of the pocket clip screws stripped super easily as i was trying to flip the pocket clip and i know of another person who had a similiar issue with his s60V blem. Maybe that's the blem? They used regular glue instead of loctite? :p

Quick fix though, filed the srew off and replaced it.

I say go for it.

THG, Have you tried one?

Funny thing is I don't like any of those things either.
I despise re-curves (pain in the butt to sharpen), greatly dislike liner locks, and am beginning to see AO as an annoyance (or at least think some knives would be better without, including this one).
The Blur remains one of my favorite knives.

The handle is generic enough that you can grip it pretty much however you want and it still feels good, the blade cuts great, the Trac-Tec inserts feel very distinct and grip well without shredding your pants, and the thumbstuds on the Blur are just about the only ones that I actually like (they stay out of the way when cutting and do their job very well).

what else are you considering, what is your budget, what do you like?

in a vacuum its a nice knife. not for me because of the A/O and too much crap written all over the blade but those things tend not to bother most people so much.

The lack of writing on the knife is one the things that drew me to the blem actually...haha. No writing on the handle or the blade, just four X's to denote a blemish. Again, i can't find anything wrong with mine.

I too am curious as to what others are carrying or considering to carry while considering the Blur.

Blur is what I settled on three years ago after a long (8+yrs) search for that purrrrfect knife. The SG2 blade is my fav' cause its hollow ground. I echo pretty much everything "mqqn" said. Light, strong and fast blade launch. I too have had pocket wear from the thumbstud, before taking the dremel to the knarls just a squooche. O' yeahhhs
... the price is right, and its USA baby.

Here are a few threads discussing the Blur. A good read.

He asked for opinions about the Blur, from Blur owners. ;) Thanks
