Kershaw Burst

The handle could be considered "visually unappealing" to some. As for the blade steel, I'm not sure. I had no problem with 8cr13mov. Comes sharp, and is relatively easy to sharpen.

Not cheap, just budget.

That knife looks terrific. Been very happy with Nerve, Chill, Asset, other 'cheap' Kershaws. Steel is more than good, and touches up beautifully, perhaps even better than their 14xxxx whatever 'improved' steel. These are great knives.

This one is on my list. I'll grab one as soon as I find a better deal on it.

Lol, it's a $20 knife, what kind of better deal are you looking to get?

As for me, I like it. Blade is nice, steel is fine for the price, lockup is nice, no play...I agree with WeAllJuggleKnives though, the handle texturing isn't really appealing...I prefer the texturing design they use on their Oso Sweet or Kuro budget knives.

If you're in no rush to get something, why not save some money when you finally decide to get it. Saved $10 on my Tremor, $10 on my Cruiser, $8 on my Asset, $4 on my Half Ton and $20+ on my Leek. Makes it a bit easier to justify heavier purchases later too. Even if I save 5 and get it for 15, that's 5 I'd still have because I waited slightly longer to get it. Every bit counts these days.

I dunno man, I never really see them drop below $20(the Burst was on my wishlist for a year and a half before I bought it, it never dropped) unless you're willing to buy used(and I am not). Occasionally you find them for like $18 or so, but every time I did the shipping still raised it above just ordering it full price and getting free shipping. Of course, if you buy from auction sites you may have more luck but I'm not willing to take the risk with those, too many people selling bad, defective, or fake(in the case of higher end knives) blades for me to use them...rather spend the extra $5 from a reputable vendor.

Very valid points that any of us on here should always be aware of when purchasing online. I've got a few eBay vendors and some local ones I trust from experience but it's a lot more unlikely to find a defective low priced knife falsely advertised or a fake when feedback is so important to the right sellers. It just isn't worth it for them to even try, usually. Now when I go to buy my Grip, I'll definitely be looking for a very reputable vendor and much less concerned with saving. I figure I'm safer saving on the lower end knives than the higher end ones and in only a few low end purchases, I'll have saved more than I would deal hunting for a higher end blade.

I know a dude who bought a Tremor off that famous auction site($14 shipped), the assist was broken(and the blade fairly dull but that's pretty common with used knives) when he got it. He was able to get reimbursed, but still, no guarantees you will even get that. I still prefer to pay the small amount extra and KNOW I will get a pristine and working blade(or that if something happens and it does arrive damaged, I will be certain I can get it replaced/refunded). YMMV of course, but if I'm going to buy a used knife, it would only be one that I was saving a lot of money on, and only from the Exchange here.

YMMV is right and it's always a risk on the bay. So far I've had mostly good experiences. Got my Tremor for $14.85 shipped, brand new in box and it was shaving sharp OTB, perfectly centered, zero play, great AO and just beautiful. The BG scout and compact scout on the other hand were almost dull and looked slightly used but the seller refunded me and even told me to keep them since I've purchased quite a few items from them. I'll probably just give them away since I'd never use either one and I know some BG fans that could be happy with using them lightly. I have to say I see exactly where you're coming from and it does make perfect sense. I'm sure I'll feel exactly the same way soon. But for the time being, I'll keep doing it this way until someone finally pisses in my corn flakes. Btw, thanks for the discussion man. I really enjoy the differing opinions on here and the civil means at which they're expressed.

I have had the Kershaw Burst for about 2 years now. It is my current EDC, and has performed to the tasks I have needed it to. It is very fast and The handle isn't extremely grippy, but is is not bad either. The thickness of the blade is good, and i don't fear the tip ever breaking. The steal is on the cheaper side, but if you disassemble it( fairly simple to do) and wipe off any dirt, water, or any other things that may have gotten into the knife, it works perfectly. I do not ever buying this knife. Highly recommended.

I picked one up at bass pro for about $25..... I own over 250 knives made by the usual suspects (sog, gerber, benchmade, crkt, microtech, boker, cold steel, etc) and this is in my top 5 to carry... size & weight are perfect for edc... takes n holds its edge as good as any 8cr13, n looks super cool.... fun, inexpensive but not cheap knive...... pic one up,,, youll not be dissapointed......
