Kershaw camp axe?

I haven't, but thanks for pointing it out. This is the first time I have heard of one, looks to be a decent hatchet. I might have to try it out.

I have one. It looks like it should be nice, but it doesn't work well for anything. There was a post on the Kershaw forum a while back that said it was just a generic hatchet that Kershaw sells under their name, not a Kershaw-designed product.

The exact same hatchet is sold under the "Outdoor Life" brand for a lot less. I have one and I rather like it. The handle is very grippy, but you're likely to get blisters if you use it for long periods without gloves. Other than that it's a fantastic bargain for the 12 or 13 bucks they cost online (Bladematrix has them). It has a very thin profile compared to most hatchets (and a lot of knives), but then flares out at the poll making it quite handy for chopping or splitting. With the thinner profile, you can choke up on it for carving, making fuzz sticks, skinning, etc. I've got mine wrapped in paracord around the bare handle part, and it's quite comfortable. Plus it comes with a very nice little belt sheath. I bought mine in a set with an SK-5 folding saw for around $15.00 last year. This set and a mora would handle all you're cutting needs for under $30.00.
