Kershaw Cryo: reality check

It's way worth the street price and more. Mine functions perfectly - it's too small for my tastes and I prefer manual action but the Cryo is a really good knife. I still prefer my Zings for the $10 price differential but the Cryo doesn't have to take a back seat to any other knife in its overall sector. Well done Kershaw IMHO.

Our friends at Knifeworks call the Kershaw Cryo "The Hinderer for the rest of us".

Really?

At something like 25% of the price, it looks like a ZT/Hinderer; but....

Now I have a gift card that I didn't have to pay for, and a chance to get one. I want to know what I should expect for my money.

I know I ain't getting no Hinderer. but can anybody tell me what am I getting?

Thanks

It's the design / shape / features of a Hinderer but made by Kershaw.

I like it a lot. I have another in the mail.

Having said that I'd like to see a made in the US version with a sandvik steel blade. Maybe even a partially serrated blade.

For the money, it's a great knife.

Would I take it over a 0550/0560/XM series? Obviously, no. But for $35, it's a lot better than most knives at that price range. Yes, I said most.

I'd still take a Tenacious over it though.

You are getting a few elements of a Hinderer but it is no XM-18. However you definitely get more bang for your buck with the Cryo.

I like the knife. Very budget friendly, and I actually like the 8CR13 steel. Performs just fine for the tasks that I perform regularly. Size is also a big plus, IMO. You get the Hinderer feel in a smaller package and won't break the bank in the process. Just get a 560, this, and an XM-18 and you'll be good for a couple of weeks.

The Cryo is a watered down rendition of a Hinderer style design
and it's a freak'n awesome little blade.

$32!?!?!? I am guessing that the frame is not titanium. Sounds like a hell of a deal either way.

If I understood the BladeOps video correctly, it's 410 Stainless.

The Cryo is perfect for throwing into airport checked baggage; something I'd never do with high end knives.
