Kershaw Cryo?

Just got my first cryo today. I ordered it from Amazon and it came in clamshell packaging. Is this new? All the ones I've seen before are in boxes. I also noticed the package has the model number as "1555TIX" what does the X stand for?

wolfstyle

The "X" just refers to the packaging type. The knife inside is the same. Various retailers prefer one packaging or the other.

... I'm a bit late to the party, but I just got my Cryo. I like it! Looks great and feels very solid in hand. It flips open fast! Seems to fly open as quick as my Chive, but the Cryo's moving quite a bit more steel. Can't wait to put it to use.

I have been carrying my Cryo since I got it. I love the design. Ergos are great, lock stabilizer is awesome, and a black deep carry pocket clip. Still drooling over it.

One thing I don't like about my Cryo is that while there is a detent on the lockbar, there is no corresponding indent on the blade. It does serve as a safety detent
when closing the blade, but not as a detent while the blade is closed if the Speed Safe mechanism fails or is removed.

Kershaw should rethink using A/O on a folder of this size.

The Cryo is very similar in size to the original Junkyard Dog, the smaller, all-metal version (model 1720). This is a manual flipper without thumb studs. This folder is a pleasure to use -- it's plenty fast without using A/O.

I really don't know what use the studs are on the Cryo. If you use them, you better be quick or you risk slicing your thumb.

At the very least, Kershaw should redesign the Cryo so that users can easily opt out of the A/O. Many buyers would appreciate having that choice.

That would be a different knife so they might as well just make one that's manual and call it the Cryom.
I removed the thumbstuds as they were useless. Gonna fill the hole with epoxy and green glow powder.

Was anyone else disappointing with the Kershaw Cyro?
I just got this knife and it just doesn't sit well in my hands, a bit on the small side.
I guess I cant really complain when the specifications were all available but I still feel a bit bummed out.

C'mon, Lynda, you can tell him the truth. The "X" means that the knife in the package is a mutant and it has special powers like the X-Men. My "X" Cryo can move things with it's mind.

I haven't carried it much, but no, I am not disappointed. The F&F is reasonable for the price point, and overall I find it proportionate.

Anyone have pictures of the bead blast version in the wild? The HQ has them in stock but I'm a little unsure how accurate their stock pictures are... the regular Ti finish Cryo looks more desert tan on their page. If it actually looked like that, I'd be all over it, but as it stands, I'm debating between the black version and the bead blast version.

I am a little late on this but I finally picked one of these up and I have to say I am very pleased. It's a little small but built very solid and the blade deploys pretty fast. Mine came perfectly centered and very sharp. Can't wait to put it to use.
