Kershaw discontinued the Knockout? Why?

Love the Knockout, with one singular issue that I don't care for.

When using the knife, the lock will move all the way over to the slab side.

Both of my versions do this, and while it operates fine now, I feel over time the wearing on the lock face will create a loose blade.

Everything else is great. Thin, awesome blade profile, deep carry, pretty light.

Looks cool too.

Your “that guy” that is the reason we have bearings in nearly everything now 😂.

Bearing pivot is nearly a deal killer for me, several knives out there that I lusted after til I found they have bearings instead of washers.

It’s like the cars these days, over complicated and too full of tech I don’t want.
While I don’t hate bearings, I strongly prefer PB washers, and wish they weren’t the market trend so much so that even inexpensive knives have them.
Bearings in a budget folder are never better than good PB washers IMO.
At least if a knife is set up for bearings you could swap them out for some thick washers.
Some of the A/O knives had detent holes drilled in the blades, so you could de assist them, but a lot of them Don’t, which means there would be NO detent without the torsion bar.
Just my .02

I haven’t tried to replace bearings with washers yet, seems like it would be a bit of a guessing game as to which ones would fit properly, though I suppose I could get close with a set of calipers, hasn’t been necessary as I avoid bearings where I can, but it’s getting harder to all the time, seems like most new folder designs are set up for bearings now.
I get it, they sell, people want them, ect. But just like AO, I would prefer knives without that “feature”. I’m a curmudgeon about complexity for complexity's sake.

I took out the assist spring out of my Blurs and they function so smooth they're perfect now.

Wish I never sold this one

Also, RIP Bareknuckle, the best knife Kershaw ever made for my money

I didn't feel like Kershaw gave this one enough time to catch on either. It just seems to me that Kershaw pulls the plug too early on knives like this one.

This feels like most brands across the board. I somewhat recently was asking the same thing about Benchmade introducing and dropping so many designs. I was scrolling through and saw Benchmades I didn't even know had come and gone.

Yeah, right. Ditch the thing they are famous for, that keeps those models top sellers for over 2 decades. Sure. Glad you're not in charge of product design at Kershaw!

Most of their speedsafe models are long in the tooth and need an upgrade. If the 0770, 0350, blur, leek etc were designed by Kershaw today they no doubt would be without the speedsafe….just look at their newer USA made offerings. No speedsafe.

Just look at the turnover rate of their newer models. The Blur and Leek are still around, unchanged for 20+ years because they are still selling well. If they "upgraded" them, they would probably be discontinued in a year or two due to lack of sales.

Our community can't win. People complain about the rapid introduction and cancelation of models. But the same community takes shots at CRK for not running 30 different super steels, adding bearings and flippers, and all other manner. Which is it people? Do we want consistency or innovation?
