Kershaw E.T.?

cool. thanks again for the replies. i'm now looking at the BM Griptilian (i'm gonna try out my friend's BM to see if i like the axis lock), the Spyderco Endura Wave (still a lil concerned about the lock) and the Kershaw Cyclone (starting to think it may be a little too fat for EDC). I'll just work things over in my head and see what i like best. thanks for all the help. i'll let y'all know what i end up getting.

I live in the East Bay and I get mine online but when I am looking to handle the knife before I buy it I go to that lame little knife shop on Pier 39. They are small but they have alot of stock.

I love my Kershaw Leek and carry it with me everywhere. It was real tight at first but after opening and closing repeatedly it loosened up nicely and now makes an excellent "one hand" knife. With a little practice, you can draw the knife, release the lock and open the blade one handed without even having to look down.......
Bought mine in Arkansas while traveling. Paid around $65 then but they can be had for much less now on eBay. They also were selling an "opening assisted" (Kershaw??) at that store in Arkansas for around $300...where I come from they call that a switchblade and it is illegal to carry unless you are a LEO or an EMT that needs a true one handed knife for emergencies. Anyway, I would recommend my Kershaw Leek to anyone.

benny: thanks. yeah, i've been to that shop before. its kinda weird, but thats a good idea to try things out.

Blade 01: Thinks for the input, but i'm not quite sure if the leek is the type of blade i'm looking for right now. maybe later on. oh, and i'm pretty sure the leek is an assisted opener. technically, the assisted openers aren't considered switchblades.

Python,
Here is what I carry - I went to eBay to check out the current price, ouch!...see the link below:

Yes, my ken onion leek is assisted opening and not a switchblade. The knife I saw for sale in Arkansas had a pushbutton on the side, definitely a switch!

I watched the video from your original posting. It is a neat mechanism and fun to watch! The one thing I like better about my leek is for one handed opening, I can have the knife in my palm in "fighting position" and use my pinky finger to release the lock and then use my index finger to flick the blade open without ever moving or releasing my grip with the other fingers.
The video on the ET looked like you had to hold the knife rather loosly and out at your fingertips to trigger the one hand opening mode.....
Just my thoughts

Pythondrummer & Benny,

Ijust realized that you guys are from the Bay. I'm from Oakland. You guys might want to also check out TAD Gear in Frisco for higher end knives and flashlights.

Whoa. Blade01. that's a good price. THe leek seems like a really good knif, but its really just not what i'm looking for now. thanks for the input though.

Yeah the E.T. opening mechanism is pretty cool, but it seems like it would be a little awkward to open onehanded without dropping it or something.

Ignoramus: yeah i live in Moraga, so i might head out to TAD Gear (looks like a cool store) to check out some of the stuff.

i'm watchin a couple of items on Ebay right now, so if the price is right, i'll probably just spring for it.

The ET from kershaw is a great knife to have on your bench or your desk for diliberate task of minimal importance. As for an EDC it can be a confusing piece of mechanical equipment in a times of desperate measures. There are alot of better simpler knives that could be chosen. So if you have some other knives on your mind I would go to the Next pick.... L8R... ~baba~

I have one an E.T as well. While it is a VERY cool design, I wouldnt think that of it as a EDC. More of a conversation starter and something to play with. Its still a very cool knife though.

thanks zidane. i dont think i'll be getting the ET now. maybe later on.

What are some good sites besides New Graham that you all know about?

Sorry i'm so indecisive, but there are so many choices. I think i'll stay with the same three (Kershaw cyclone, benchmade griptilian, and spyderco endura wave) and pick one out of those three. For now, since i need a new edc, i was thinking about just buying a cheap, new leek on ebay. Then when i finally decide later what i really want to get, i'll look for some good deals, or maybe i could get it as a christmas present from my folks.

Thank you everyone for all the help. It has really been very important in making my decision.
