Again asking help from those who are wiser.
So it's about Kershaw Emerson QCQ-6K.
It seems to have that wave too, not know if it's good or bad.
Surely it deploys the blade quickly, right?

I'd like hear if anyone have experience of the knife?
I'd get new one, costing around 60.

What you think?

thanks again for any, and all help!

It's a good knife, but don't pay $60 for one! Look at kershawguy.com, he's a dealer who supports this forum, fantastic prices and customer service.

As for the wave, I would actually say it doesn't open the knife faster, it opens it sooner if that makes sense. It opens as it catches on your pocket, so the knife is ready to use once it's in your hand. I'm decently addicted to waved knives, but some dislike them so you'll have to judge for yourself.

The 6k can be had for around $25 pretty easily. Please don't pay $60 for it. I agree with Insipid Moniker, it opens the blade sooner. It takes some getting used to but if you want the knife open as soon as it comes out of your pocket the Wave is the way to go. The 7k is the same knife with a tanto blade, if that's your thing.

Just a quick note, if the OP is in a different country, they may or may not have to pay import fees and shipping if the knife is not sold locally or sold in their country at all.

Thanks for the info. You guys are the best!

And yeah, I'm not living in US, so costs here are about 1,5 times (sometimes more) than you have there.
It's quite easy to find most knives here to, but the price is always more.

One question more:
Kershaw's Emerson's QCQ-knives, I found -6K costing 50, the tanto bladed -7K costs 55, Not too expensive, I think.

But I did find also Emerson Knives (different company?)
Knives CQC-8, -10 -13, -14, -15 all costs more than 200, couple around 250.
Are these really so much better than Kershaw's knives?

And there is more, Emerson Knives's CQC-7 Tanto costs 200.

What difference there is between Kershaw's -7K and Emerson Knives -7, as the other costs almost 150 more?

Anyway, I'm -still- planning to buy that Kershaw's Emerson CQC-6K, somehow I like it's look.

The difference is the Kershaw is made in China and the Emerson is made in USA.

Also the material of construction is different also.Blade steel is 8cr14mov for Kershaw and 154cm for Emerson. Stainless lock for Kershaw titanium for Emerson.

Main cost difference is probably the country of origin.

Okay, that explains it.
I think that I'll skip that Chinese version, and buy US-made knife.
I have not very high opinion about Chinese made stuff...

US-made=better, more expensive, well I'm ready to pay for quality.

Thanks again!

No problem. The Kershaw knife is very well made for the money.

Keep in mind if you do opt for the Emerson cqc7 the blade is a chisel grind. Some people love it some hate it.

I have both and both are nice, I do carry the Emerson more.

I have a CQC-6K, it a nice knife for the price...not the best steel but is very well built and solid. It is pretty heavy and due to it's fairly small size when closed the weight tends to feel very concentrated when clipped. The wave feature works OK, the Spyderco version works a lot better and isn't as harsh on the pocket, same goes for the thumb disk, it works fairly well but isn't the most comfortable. All in all, it's worth the $30 or so, when the forthcoming CQC-4KXL comes out I'll be getting one also.

Avoid the 8K though, I have one and hate it.

I handled the Kershaw CQC-6 today while I was at a knife store. Seems like a nice knife. I like the weight of it too. Action was very smooth.

I waved it a few times. It works just as well as the ones on my Emersons.

I actually think maybe not the materials but the quality of workmanship is better on the Kershaw emersons than on the emersons. Also some of the Kershaw emersons are frame locks where the emersons are liner locks. I don't think you'd be dissapointed with the Kershaw.

The Kershaw-Emerson CQC-6K is a great knife and one of my favorite "beater" knives at its price range. The wave opener is a matter of preference. It hooks on the back of your pocket as you draw the knife and opens the blade as the knife comes out of your pocket. So, in that sense, it opens the knife sooner (versus opening it after pulling it from your pocket). Some like it. Some don't. If you have a chance to play with one before buying, you might check to see if you like it. Personally, I think it's pretty cool.

As for Emerson knives, it is a different company. The Kershaw-Emerson ones are a collaboration between Kershaw and Emerson. There is more information about it here. The model numbers are independent (ie. Emerson's "CQC-7" and the Kershaw-Emerson "CQC-7K" are different knives). The Emersons do cost more, but they also use more expensive materials (eg. 154CM blade instead of 8Cr13MoV) and are made in the USA (increased production/labor costs, among other factors). They are great knives as well, but perhaps not targeting the same market as the collaboration pieces.

Here's a pic of the Emerson CQC-7B, Kershaw-Emerson CQC-7K, and CQC-6K. As you can see, the Emerson "CQC-7" and Kershaw "CQC-7K" are not the same design.

Definitely do not knock the Kershaw Emersons for being Chinese made. They are some great knives at a great price! I had the 6k and 7k and they were fantastic work knives!

I own a 6k and love it! It's not my nicest knife but I do love to carry it. I think the wave works great. Also fit and finish on it is pretty nice

Thanks to all of you for info !

I guess I could give a try to that -6K.
Maybe it fills the work knife (beater) opening, I have.
The wave is good because when I'm at work I have often open blade with one hand,
so the blade opening when drawing from pocket is a bonus.

So yeah, million thanks once again!

;) Woe poor me, so many knives, and not too much money to buy them..
