If anyone here has not owned a Kershaw Groove they are really missing out on a fantastic flipper and a big bang for the buck.

Yester5 from Pittsburgh did the fantastic scales on this one.

Scales make these feel like a custom knife.

That blade pattern always seemed like Big Hat and No Cattle to me, but I've never had my hands on one. Need to check it out. I'm a big fan of Kershaw, so why not this one too.

It's worth it. I didn't expect much outta this one, but it blew me away. One of my favorites that I own

RICKSTER...I still have the one I bought from you...bought 2 more after that one...custom scales would be great...a nice blue/black CF twill...now who to call on for that...

I got a groove several years ago. I really like the style and the lightness. The grooves can be hard to clean. I need to take mine apart and fix it up. Those scales are fantastic.

Do the grooves in the blade serve any functional purpose? Or are they purely aesthetic?

They certainly look cool. If cutting through solid and somewhat rigid materials, I could see how there would be less material in contact with the blade (just slides over the peaks of each groove). On softer stuff, though, it seems it would compress into the grooves, providing more surface area in contact with the blade (and hence more resistance from friction).

I found that on soft stuff, it was stickier and there was more resistance. I used it on food pretty often, thinking it would work like a little santoku. This was not the case in my experience, though it's been a couple years since I used it.

If they offered a black pocket clip, besides the tanto black version, I'd own one by now.

Just picked up a groove and I really like it so far. Gonna have to get me a set of those scales! I am always looking for another to add more orange to my collection! :D

I almost bought one of the orange ones until I realized that it wasn't assisted.
