hello, thought id share some groovy things with you guys.

picked up my new kershaw groove last week and the second i got it home decided that the g10 scales had to go. i think it makes for a much smoother look and feel, fits way better in my hand and pocket. what do you guys think? was it a good idea?

anyways, im super happy with this knife scales or no scales, my favorite kershaw that i own :D

Good

I've always thought this style of scales (Kershaw Groove, CRKT My Tighe etc.) looks like fungus :barf:

thought id give you guys a few more camera angles, check out how thin the knife is compared to the thickness of the blade

I tried that with mine, but it was too slippery and too thin without the g10. I put the g10 back on to keep the knife more secure when it gets wet. I tend to use my knives a lot in the kitchen.

My Kershaw Groove was delivered today. What a blood gutter blade. Only complaint is that it's way too attention getting to use around people.

No, no, no. Use it around them, a lot. Then, just when they're starting to flinch when you walk in the room, pull out a slightly less intimidating knife, like a Leek, and they'll follow you anywhere! :D

I have now found that if I introduce the Groove as a cheese cutter (cheese does not stick to the blade) and not as a blood gutter, people are most accepting, downright friendly.

could anyone post picture of Groove, which shows the upper side. I´m curious about spacer. I also realised, that screws are only from one side. They´re screwed to the scale!
thanks for picture

Here's an R.J. Martin Custom that has some resemblance to the Kershaw. Fastest and sharpest knife I own.

While I am not a huge fan of the Grooves scales, I like them a LOT better than the slick SS. The knife would look good with a set of full G10 scales on it, but without anything, I dont like it at all.

The original series of pics shows the knife from pretty much all angles other than the spine...not sure what spacer you're talking about...

The scales are held on with seperate screws, not the ones that hold the frame together.

Edit: The design is open-frame with three heavy-duty, wide, black-anodized posts (spacers?) between the frame halves that the 3 frame screws run through, spaced equi-distant from about frame mid-point back to the butt. Pivot washers are phosphor-bronze.

I'm leavin' the G-10 scales on both of my Grooves...I like 'em that way...Both for how they look, and how it makes the knife feel in my hand.

Same here...the fine checkering provides a great grip, and I also like the look.
