I think your re-designs look great but I'm gonna have to stick with Tim's original design and being my favorite.

The JYD has intrigued me but I have not been able to pull the trigger on it, maybe its that clip or the blade shape is just a bit off to me. I do like option #3, could be the bastard child of a Leek 1660T and Insingo...

Yeah, the blade shape is what kept me on the fence regarding this knife. Having cut my teeth on the 0360 conversion, I think a regrind to mockup #3 will best suit this knife (IMO).

Good design on #3, is is my preference over the original and #2.

Yeah, I think #3 has it.

Really like #3, reminds me of the blade on an insingo Sebenza. Your JYD will be in the mail tomorrow. ;)

Good comparison. I didn't even think about the insingo. Looking forward to the JYD and thanks.

I like it! Everything about this knife is a curve.... It's almost like there are too many curves!
I like the crisp lines of the #3 mock up... I like that the point is, well somewhat pointy and that i wouldn't have to tip the knife up almost completely vertical if i had to cut open a UPS box.
Dig it!

Now get it done so we can see the real thing ;)

I'll have pics of the new conversion/re-birth as soon as I can. Plan on renaming it the Junkyard Mutt.

you also have to take into account how it will look when closed.

I did this to my Rake, and I want to grind down the ramp at the end of the handle.

Nice work on the Rake. :D

I like #3 too, but I think it would look alot more sleek if you brought that top back a little further. Not a lot, but some.

I wouldn't grind on a SG2 junkyard dog, too rare of a knife to alter. If it was a regular production it wouldnt really matter. Hope its a Blem

I love the original. I don't like #2 at all. I like #3 but that blade shape would look better on another knife. I like the large blade like the wing of a plan, although I don't know if that was intentional like the riveting. My grandpa was a B-17 mechanic so I have an emotional connection to the original as more than just another knife because of those aviation influences Tim worked in to the design.

I like the original blade the best. Your crazy for chopping up a sg2 dog. You should defiantly just pick up a regular sanvick jyd2 to modify like that.

I've decided not to re-grind the pro series and will keep that one stock. I've gone ahead and ordered a regular production one and will do the regrind on that one. Keep you posted. . .
Good for you:thumbup:
