Kershaw JYDII Trifecta

The JYD 2, Ti/SG2 is one of my all time favorite knifes from any manufacturer. It is tied as the sharpest out of box knife I've ever purchased, in any price range. It came hair whittling sharp, without exaggeration.

The steel is very clean, easy to get very sharp, takes a great edge, has a high enough RC to be tough, stable, and shows very good wear resistance. The Ti framelock shows excellent engineering, and high quality build.

I don't see myself ever selling or trading mine away. Joe

Got a couple of questions. Is there defintely a black G-10 handled JYDII in the 13c26n blade steel? Second, why the weight difference between the standard version ( 5.2 ounces ), and the composite version ( 5.9 ounces )?

Yep, after a little more research I found several sites listing both at 5.2 ounces. Guess just a misprint where I saw it listed at 5.9 ounces. While on weight, what does the JYDII SG2 come in at?

On my scale:

My standard one is 5.8 oz
My composite is 5.8 oz
My SG2 one is 5.3 oz.

All with pocket clips.

I have a food scale so I will weigh mine in a bit. One other time I found a mistake on the actual weight of the knife. Every site I looked at listed the ZT0500 at 4.8 ounces when actual weight was 6.8 ounces. Thanks for the info, as I figured the SG2 would weigh less, but at least it is not by much, and it is still over the 5 ounce mark. I am really anal about the weight thing as I like a knife to have a really solid and hefty feel! So, I just weighed the JYDII and came up with 5.8 ounces.

Place it at the top of your list then, Bonkers, as it is indeed a frame-lock!

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I know that I can have a 1725SG2 as my first framelock rather than the orignal JYDI, it will be the next folder I purchase.

By the way, the JYDII continues to impress me more with each passing day that I use it...:D

You better hurry and locate one as they are getting really scarce. They started out as a 1000 piece run, that got turned into a 700 piece run, that ended up at less than 700 pieces............I think.:)

I thank you for the update.

I've been looking through my usual online sellers but nothing as yet from them but have found a few others with them in stock at around $150.

I may have to go with them then?:(

Bonkers, the MSRP on these is $240, so the $150 price is about right. I say GO FOR IT!!

Sent an email to an online seller who has them listed for $135 ...it will be an anxious wait to confirm if there are any still in stock. :(

Own all 3 and I'd say in terms of my personal preferance is the TiSG2 is first place followed by the normal JYDII and then the D2 version. Why is the D2 last? The profile of the edge of the normal JYDII is the better cutter and it is also cheaper than the D2 version.

well this made me break down and get a CB version - I am planning some interesting modifications when it arrives (hopefully I won't ruin it in the process). I'd be interested in the SG2/ti version but for the lack of the full flat grind that makes this design such a wicked cutter.

I remember reading in the Kershaw forums that Tim Gaylean said the SG2's were the sharpest knives that Kershaw ever produced.:thumbup::D

My wife, without my knowing, had her brother outbid me for a 1725CB (black no-pattern G10) before Christmas, so I bid more on this grey fuselage pattern factory second/blem advertised as 'new'. I actually carry it more than the black one... got them both for Christmas. They came between hair-raising and scarey sharp - and remain so. The black one came in a neat bag inside a Kershaw box - and a mailer. The grey one came in the bubblewrap shown - and inside a manila envelope.

For the uninformed, like I was, Kershaw sells low production runs, blems, and seconds at their factory store, sometimes in a bucket, but always signified by the four X's shown on my grey handled 1725CB's blade, as above. They are sold less box and less their warranty. Admittedly, they are just as good as any boxed Kershaw and Kershaw is a great company - they will send you replacement clip screws, etc, gratis.

A new arrival fresh from the postman:D
The blade is wicked sharp, and thin too. Gonna be a great slicer. Locks up like a vault, Ti handles are visually stunning and do have a nice grip to them:thumbup:
Still need the CB for the "Tri-fecta"

Looks great SE! Mine will arrive next Wednesday. Hoping my STR low rider clip also gets here by then. I am definately thinking that I will go ahead and pick up the CB model next week also. As has been discussed earlier, the JYDII Trifecta is a few more than three. I have seen the black G-10 models in plain and serrated with silver blade, and the same two in a DLC finish. So, if you count the serrated gray handled, all versions of the black models, and the two limited models we are talking the JYDII Octfecta ( 8 )!! But for the sake of saving some bucks, I'm stickin with the Trifecta. Hey Stainz, did you ever contact the seller of the XXXX model? If so what did they have to say?

I have JYD I and II. LOVE THEM.
I carry the JYDII almost all of the time.
I will be on the lookout for the TiJYDII.
Thanks for the heads up.
