Does anyone own this knife or know aything about it?? http://www.skylandscutlery.com/products/kershaw/ker1525.htm

I am think about getting it but I don't like the blade etching. Could this type of etching come off with a scotch brite synthetic steel wool pad??

Any comments on this knife would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is just my opinion but if you don't like the blade etching why don't you just get the regular Kershaw Random Task. That is what this knife appears to be anyway, right. If there is something special about this one, besides the etching, I'm missing it. BTW, you can get a new Random Task for about $105.
Just my opinion.

I have a 1520 that should be in the mail today. Sweet action, drop point blade, dual liners, everything a kid would want.

The knife in the pic has a drop point blade, Titanium bolsters and it looks like possibly a false edge or something on top. The handle shape is also different from all the others.

The only thing about that version is that it runs about $500 - $600 retail. It's on the cover of Kershaw's catalog, and I don't Believe that there are very many out there, and the pic of the one on Skylands is hand made by Ken Onion, but I may very well be mistaken.

One more question though. If I scotch brite the blade and give it a satin finish, will that void the warranty???

Even if you can get it a lot cheaper (dealers usually get half the full retail price )its still close to $300.I would wait till I could get another $200 or so and get the real deal.A custom Onion. You will find a big difference in quality and if you ever wanted to resell the knife a custom will hold a lot more value than a factory knife.I know factory companies always will tell you limited editions will increase in value but they seldom do,especially when 500 pieces are produced.

Well,
Looks like my hopes were shot down. I called Kershaw and they said that removing the etching will void the warranty. I really want this knife but don't want to spend that kind of money on a knife that I cant have repaired if it becomes damaged.
