There is a Kershaw forum here where your problems could be directly addressed, and you can speak directly with a Big Cheese at Kershaw who is active on Bladeforums and is very responsive to BF members.

My experience with Kershaw has been much different than yours, and I think its fair to say this is true for the vast majority of Kershaw customers. They make fine knives at good prices, and their CS is first rate. I find it difficult to believe that Kershaw has not honored its warranty on five consecutive occasions with you, and wonder why you keep buying knives that you think are so terrible.

If you are really interested in a resolution, you can take it to the Kershaw forum and provide some documentation or pics to demonstrate that what you say is true. I'm guessing its unlikely that will happen, though. JMO. Good luck.

Could you at least describe the failures a little more clearly? To say it just "snapped" doesn't help anyone know what happened to your knife.

+1 on this -- my experience, too, is that Kershaw makes excellent knives and has one of the best customer service/warranty departments in the business.

I find it rather difficult that you've managed to get five Kershaws in a row that have failed badly due to manufacturing/quality issues. No company is perfect, and a lemon slipping through occasionally is inevitable even from a company like Kershaw that has high manufacturing standards and excellent quality control. However, the probability of getting five badly defective knives in a row from a company like Kershaw is exceedingly slim. Thus, barring documentation/evidence and more specifics on how, exactly, each of these knives "failed bad", I'm much more inclined to think that the problem lies primarily with the user rather than the knives themselves.

Without knowing too much about your problem except that you broke some kershaw knives, im gonna have to beg to differ. In my opinion, Kershaw does not make trash and their customer service has always been great to me. Especially since you can directly contact people who run stuff over there. For the price you are paying and the quality you are getting, it is hard to beat. I carry a Kershaw daily for my job and when I go up to the mountains on the weekends I carry a different kershaw. Maybe you had some bad luck and just happened to get all defective knives, but methinks you were probably abusing the blades past what they were meant for....or your a troll. Either way, I love kershaw, and if you don't, send those knives on over this way and I will properly dispose of your "trash". Watch the way you talk about people's life work, especially when they are in the next room over.

Kershaw for life!

Accepting your story at face value, you are excessively rough on your knives. Normal regular users might have 5 failures in their entire lifetime. Maybe you should switch to claw hammers, machetes and hatchets.

Kershaws one of the best production knife companies out there. There customer service is spot on and i have never once had a issue with kershaws Customer Service. Kershaws knives are also very sturdy and the fact that your knives break only tells me you abuse the crap out of them. I could understand if only one of your knives had an issue, but becuase all of your knives have issues shows user error. Kershaw has great QC and i dought in all the five knives you got they were all missed by quality control. My point is dont trash kershaw becuase your the only one with these problems. Also any knife can fail if the user does something the knife is not made for. In your case the outcast broke, but what did you do with it before chopping branches??? the branch just couldve been the tip of the iceburg that caused that knife to break. Also i would love to see pictures as well showing the condition of your knives. In all, Just buy other brands if your not satisfied, just more kershaws for me :D

mwhich50 needed to add screw drivers and ply bars. I to have to differ with the OPer. I have many Kershaws that are great work knives and have done their job very well. Although I have never had a concern or failure of a Kershaw (except a crack in the blade above the thumb stud of my Splinter) I am sure Kershaw would take care of it. My Needs Work is a great work knife that gets abused and still sharpens up great and begs to be used again. Good luck with your concerns and I would just give them a call and have this all resolved. Remember pictures can show all of us what really happened.

I also have never had issues like this with Kershaw. I have talked to their customer service on a few occasions and they have been nothing but kind and helpful. I read that you have been emailing over the past 3 years but have you ever tried calling and talking with them directly? Some more description on what exactly caused all the knives to fail and how they failed as well as some pics of them would help clear things up a bit.

So, five separate events resulted in five destroyed knives? Surely this is not coincidence, there must have been some sort of user error involved in the process. I for one think you are exaggerating a bit much in your claims.

I currently own over 30 kershaw knives. They are my favorite production knife company. I have only ever had one problem, and the company replaced the knife, no questions asked. Everything you have said is contrary to my personal experience with kershaw.

Tim,

I'm sorry to hear that you've had trouble with some of our knives. We take customer service very seriously, and I would ask that if you have a problem, please call or email our customer service department. Here is link to their contact info: http://www.kershawknives.com/contactus.php?brand=kershaw

If you vist the following link, it will provide you with instructions on how to send your knives in for warranty repair: http://www.kershawknives.com/warranty-shipping-and-instructions.php

Our warrantee department is very courteous and professional, and they should have no problem handling any issues your knives may have had. I'm not sure why you feel that we will not honor our warrantee, but we would like the opportunity to fix any issues you may have had.

This guy's funny.

Ahhhhh.... what a difference in response trolls get from Kershaw men.

I am a bona fide Kershaw fan with too many (if there is such a thing) of them. I love them all. I use them all, except my G10 Tyrade which I fondle. I use them for work in my construction job, and they do everything. Including some things that knives aren't recommended to do.

Never had a problem but once, and it was a small one with an older DWO knife. Emailed Thomas personally, and he responded personally, and that was that.

I have personally been buying Kershaw since the mid 80's, and still have my small "whiskey gap" knife. It was my second Kershaw from about that time. It has been used and carried so much that the wood is literally wearing away from the brass liners, but it still locks up tight.

Personally, to me OP's post was nothing but a troll. I just don't believe he got that many bad Kershaw knives. Their QC is waaaaay better than that.

But kudos to all here for the careful, measured response. We have all seen what happens if someone says anything that could be taken in a bad light about certain brands. On some of the subforums, the user reporting a failure, not matter how small, is literally challenged and nearly put on trial by the brand fans to determine if misuse has been involved. It often devolves down to whether the person reporting the problem isn't just a simple idiot trying to start trouble. This is with a legitimate beef with pictures!

I don't post much here, but this sub forum is nice and peaceful. I like that.

Why do you keep buying Kershaws if they keep breaking on you. That doesnt make any logical sense, therefore im concluding that you sir...ARE FULL OF BULL!.

It's hard to take this thread seriously. Move this to whine and cheese so we can discuss this in depth.

Yeah, all my Kershaws and ZT's did the same, as did my XM-18, all my Spyderco's, my Cold Steels, my Strider, all my Benchmades (hate that), all my Bokers, my Bussekins, my Lionsteel, my HEST/F (That was to be expected of course ), my Kabars and Leathermen (Leathermans?), CRKT's, man, they ALL suck!
If it wasn't for your stellar rep here I'd be inclined to disbelieve you, it can't be a coincidence.
Anyway. Get a United Cutlery. You'll never go back!
