Have been looking to get a knockout. They are apparently unavailable. What's the scoop on when they will be out?
Thanks

We're finishing up the first batch of Pistons and some more Echelons. Not sure where the Knockouts are in teh production schedule. I'll have to check next week.

I was going to wait for more variations to come out, but I want this knife too damn bad.

I'm curious what the draw is to this knife compared to other offerings? Is it because of the lightweight and still has a "frame" lock?

It a hybrid Spear-Point/Dropped-Point blade shape to it, for one.

I think it is the second model to feature the "sub-frame lock" design too.

The Knockout was the first one to have it.

I don't know what happened here — I thought I was posting in the Piston thread — glad I was able to give some folks a few laughs though!

I've been waiting for a year on this knife as well. When it was first shown, I promised myself I wasn't going to buy any more knives until it came out. I wanted this one BAD! Then months went by and the sickness came back and I ended up buying quite a few spydercos, as I already had most of the available Kershaw models (US production anyway). I'm kind of bummed, as I've transitioned from a hardcore Kershaw guy into more of a spyderco guy and I don't even know if I want this knife anymore. I can't help but feel a little bummed about the wait. Don't get me wrong, I know it's difficult to mass produce a new model and Thomas is a great guy for trying to help us understand on here, but I wonder if I get this knife that no matter how nice it is that I won't feel a bit disappointed after waiting so long and as a result never really liking it.

Then again, maybe I'm overthinking things and I should just place a preorder somewhere. Sorry for the rambling, but this particular knife has driven me crazy for a year. Am I the only one?

I know this is a few day old thread, but I came here looking for info on the Knockout. I've been waiting for a year just like everyone else.

I finally gave up and just bought a Benchmade. I've been dissapointed over and over with release dates that come and go, still no knife. I work in manufacturing and realize that things take time, but this is just ridiculous.

I think Kershaw should seriously re-think it's timeline on announcing new designs. I can't even count the number of posts I've read on this knife stating that they waited forever and then got sick of it and went to purchase a different knife.

At this point, I'm so over it that even if the knife was released tomorrow and given away for free, I probably wouldn't be interested. I've held off nearly a year of purchasing waiting for this one knife, much like the poster above, and now all I see when I look at it, is frustration.

I've been a huge Kershaw fan for a long time, and I know that they're in high demand and working at max capacity, but this still has just left a sour taste in my mouth.

Funny you say that. You should read the sticky titled No More Release Dates!!

I already did. I found this thread through a google search, registered, replied, and then skimmed the rest of the forums. I've lurked here previously, but the last time I was on the forum, the Kershaw subforum was still shut down.

I would comment on the absurdity of people criticizing Kershaw fans for being frustated after patiently waiting a YEAR and having nothing to show for it, but that should pretty much go without saying.

I still like the company's products, and their commitment to staying at least partially USA made, but I have to say... any modern manufacturing company that can't manage +/- 3 months on their schedule, should really do some heavy duty introspection. That's the equivalent of hitting the broad side of a barn.

The first run of Knockout's hit the streets back in Nov. 2011.

Have you worked at a manufacturing facility in the past?

I wish I had the foresight to place an early pre-order, but after the first change of due date, I lost confidence. I am just frustrated, as I haven't been this excited about a design in quite some time. I'll put it this way... I was excited enough about it that until I grew frustrated with the wait, I literally had no interest in any other knives.

I've made my career in manufacturing, specializing in industrial automation and CNC controls. I started my career at an industrial electronics manufacturer, and then went freelance for a while before moving on to an R & D/engineering company.

I'm just venting here Thomas. I know how badly schedules and budgets can slip. My very own project is almost $10k over budget and several weeks behind as of our company resource meeting this morning.

I guess what I was trying to say is that when you're getting to the point where schedules are slipping in the time frame of months rather than weeks, it's time to consider some corrective action. Unfortunately, buying several hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment isn't really high on many companies' lists right now. Neither is adding another $500k in salary to run that equipment.

I suppose your action is pretty much the only reasonable one at the moment... stay quiet and work hard. It's obvious Kershaw isn't where they are today due to poor management.

If you read through the forum Thomas mentioned that they are going to stop giving sneak peaks on new models, two reasons being design copy on the china market, and another that people complain when there are production setbacks.....my mouth is watering for an echelon, but you won't see me complaining.

I'm pretty new to Kershaw and have bought 3 of them in a month. Just bought the black bladed RAM last night (making it 4) before they dry up. 3 months to me is nothing to wait for a knife. I have waited almost a year for several customs and have waited for several years now for the release of the Spyderco Dodo. If the wait frustrates you that much perhaps you are in the wrong hobby. Not being critical but there are so many variables that come into play that don't get the knife on the shelf quick enough. Sure it's frustrating but it certainly isn't worth getting all worked up over.
