Kershaw Knockout Availability

I wish I had the foresight to place an early pre-order, but after the first change of due date, I lost confidence. I am just frustrated, as I haven't been this excited about a design in quite some time. I'll put it this way... I was excited enough about it that until I grew frustrated with the wait, I literally had no interest in any other knives.

I've made my career in manufacturing, specializing in industrial automation and CNC controls. I started my career at an industrial electronics manufacturer, and then went freelance for a while before moving on to an R & D/engineering company.

I'm just venting here Thomas. I know how badly schedules and budgets can slip. My very own project is almost $10k over budget and several weeks behind as of our company resource meeting this morning.

I guess what I was trying to say is that when you're getting to the point where schedules are slipping in the time frame of months rather than weeks, it's time to consider some corrective action. Unfortunately, buying several hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment isn't really high on many companies' lists right now. Neither is adding another $500k in salary to run that equipment.

I suppose your action is pretty much the only reasonable one at the moment... stay quiet and work hard. It's obvious Kershaw isn't where they are today due to poor management.

Iman, we've been making several changes to help avoid the long waits. Waiting longer to announce new products is part of that, but we've also invested heavily in our new equipment for our US factory, and trimmed the fat from our lineup so that we can focus on getting out the models that are most in demand. It's not and overnight solution, but we feel it will make a big difference in this new year.

Jimmer,

That's great to hear. Especially the part where you're investing in the US economy and the American worker, and continuing to keep a balance between affordable import and premium domestic.

I'd hate to see a good company take damage because of lack of supply... normally lack of demand is the killer.

Sorry if I was negative in my earlier posts. My company is growing quickly and is also experiencing some growing pains. We outgrew ourselves so badly this year that we literally had engineers working in a tent; it was set up in a corner of our warehouse with a portable AC unit piped into it. :D
