KERSHAW KNOCKOUT - M390

Update: Been carrying it just one day and.....

1) It is a great size for my XXX-Large Hands. I really like the "flipper" opening method.
2) This blade is stupid sharp...I mean...wow.
3) I've not done any heroic feats of strength with it yet, but when I need to cut something open....wow.
4) Looks great too.
5) Wore jeans today and I love the deep conceal clip design on this thing, it literally disappears.
6) I forget I'm even wearing it.
7) Tomorrow it has its first outing in dress pants.
8) Nice buy here and I appreciate the seller making it possible.

depends on whether you need to rebevel. If so, start with the 30 degree(15 each side) with diamonds until you get a wire edge. Work down through medium, fine, extra fine. You can micro bevel with the 40 degree side - I don't. If you do microbevel, I would only do 5 very light strokes each side on the extra fine stones. If you cannot get ride of the wire edge, you may have to strop.

Thanks, but at this point this thing is so crazy sharp it may be a while before I have to do anything to drastic with it. Just stropping it a few minutes ago was pretty amazing.

My main "problem" is that I've always been a "if a little is good, more is better" kind of guy.

I think I've been "bearing down" too hard on my SharpMaker rods, and I'm particularly concerned with the diamond rods. I've been taking it easy, but it feels like I'm scraping my blade against a concrete block.

I know I need to NOT apply too much pressure, but how much is too much?

Seems like you had it down well enough when you started this thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/best-sharpening-system-for-your-knife.1752174/

What happened?

Fifty years of sharpening may be not enough to figure out the finer points, like 30° before 40° or 40° before 30°. Confuzzled I am. But you know "obsessing" over wet stones is ridiculous, right ? In short, No ! You're all wrong with about everything you stated. Funny.
