Kershaw Know-It-Alls...

Please consider the Kershaw Concierge. Available for $35 on the big river site. A fantastic little manual flipper that is a Sinkevich design. Probably my favorite inexpensive manual flipper, very nice design. Great blade shape, thin enough to cut well, flips well, comfortable handle, etc. All win, assuming you're not totally put off by the Chinese manufacturing.

Glad to hear it isn't just me thinking that Cryo is a bit heavy. I agree, the deep pocket is nice. I'm not sure if it's my pudgy thumbs or my weak fingers but I also had problems getting it unlocked.

I think it's a matter of having to negotiate your thumb past the flipper tab and onto the frame lock. They're too close together for me as well for some reason.

Burlap Micarta is gonna feel different than both those woods, different from G10 and different than CF... but I wouldn't worry about the wear factor.

I am a huge fan of micarta. Give it a shot, and I bet you'll like it too.

the TSA can get into that luggage as easily as any.

I use hard shell luggage like this, with good combination locks to avoid this kind of bs... but yes, it's happened to most of us I think, which is really stupid - paid employees no less :/
