I stopped by my local knife dealer yesterday, I was surprised to see he had one in stock. It is just as nice as it looks in the pictures, but there are a couple of things you should know before you order one sight unseen.
First, I don't know if this is because he had an early one or because the blade uses a new construction method, but the edge grind was sloppy and somewhat uneven. It looks like the knife is retailing for around $200, my local dealer was asking $235, I expect near perfection for that amount, especially from a production maker. Hopefully, future knives will be better.
Second, it is a BIG knife. Pictures can't quite convey how thick and hand-filling the handle is. As some of you know, I am a big knife guy, I don't EDC anything smaller than a Spyderco Military, but at least that knife has a thin handle. The Offset is large in every dimension, it will be quite noticeable when stuck in a front pocket.
I have been anxiously awaiting this knife since Dex posted pictures a while back. I hope that Kershaw cleans up the edge grind and that I will be able to get my hands on one for less than $200.
