I have a chance to Get one for 29.99. It seem extremely Under priced compared to knives built with the same materials.
VG10 Steel
Ss Liners
Thick Liners
Flipper+thumbstud
Thick well placed lock
Very very "grippy" G10

It Has a Blade shape similar to an Emerson Commander, and about the same size. But Better steel in my opinion.

Why is it so cheap? And do any of you have one and have positive things to say about it?

I have found amazing Videos on youtube about it.
Just wanted to see what you guys think. Its Built from materials that make it Seem like it would be a "Knife for Life" type of knife. But the Extremely cheap Price has me confused.

Like other knives with VG10 steel, it's made in Japan - home of KAI, Kershaw's parent company. From the Kershaw manufacturer's sub-forum, that Lahar has been well received - if a bit large. My only VG10 is a Kershaw 1993-2 Gentleman's Folder - fantastic blade, holds its edge well - but I have no experience re-edging mine - yet. Check the Kershaw sub-forum.

At that price... unless it has tire marks over it and the blade won't 'flip', I'd buy it. Do check it for a series of four 'X's' on the side with the maker's mark. That's Kershaw's way of indicating it is a factory blemish, second, or short run. Functionally perfect, but supplied less the pouch, if normally included, box, papers, and warranty. I have a JYDII with 'X X X X' on it - and it is perfect. Probably just a great buy.

I bought one for 35 bucks last year off ebay and it was as perfect of a knife as one could ask for. These knives are sleepers for sure. Wicked sharp, big wide blade and excellant excellant build quality. Check for the x's on it. keepem sharp

It is Not the Factory second. It is On a Clearance sale at a sporting good store in my location. actually almost across the street.

It is mint condition with box and paperwork. I handled it, flipped it. It is in Perfect condition.
I paid the Man $10 to Hold it for 3 days for me. So I could see why it was so cheap before I bought it. I was going to buy a cold steel spike with my $30 knife money( thats all I have for a new knife right now) but it seems I have struck a hidden gold mine with this Kershaw Lahar.

Yes, these are a bargain. Very nice blade geometry. VG10 that comes wicked sharp. An all around great large folder. Buy now before it goes away.

Go back to the store, give him another $20 and take it home. You won't regret it.
Nice find.

I gave my groomsmen Lahars when I got married, and they all love it. (I had to get one too, and it is a great knife). VG-10 makes for a wicked slicer.

I paid $60 each, so for $30 I'd say you're doing pretty good, assuming it is NIB.

I recently worked on a lahar. It is definitely a nice, simple knife. The blade steel is good and the action is acceptable.

It's put together a little differently that the other Kershaws I've dealt with. The screws and pivot are strange, but I don't see a problem with that. I would personally replace the delrin washers with bronze, but that's about it.

I'm personally not a fan of the shape, but for that price....

Exactly what they all said, the Lahar is a steal for $30, great knife with great materials that doesnt get as much respect as it should.

For 30 bucks? What's the name and address of this store! I'll take the other two. Contact me by using the email link on my Profile page!

SPX, if he does email you, please be nice and let me buy one off of you, I don't have a Lahar yet. :)

Something that is really unique about the Lahar is the way the blade stop is made so it springs out of the liners.
There's a slot in the liners and someway the pin springs and stops the blade.
Rock solid lock-up too.
Maybe somebody can say exactly how it works, it took me awhile to even see how the stop works. Very cool.

There's just a stop pin between the liners. The channel cut in the blade moves around the pin. It keeps the stop pin hidden. There are no springs (except for the liner lock).

The concept is the same as on the speedbump and JYD. Almost the same concept as the 0200. I'm sure there are many others.

for that price i'd buy two...it is a great knife and i love mine....i can't wait to get mine back...i just had it reground and a new set of scales made fo rit.....it'll be twice the knife now....ryan

correct spx.....the pink zt 0200 is also mine....and don't even think about sending any goons over here for em!:D.....ryan

Get it. If you don't like it(for some strange reason) you can easily get your money back. They were around ~$60-70 when I got mine.

GOT It. LOVE it. Very Nice Knife, even if I didn't know I could get it for less then 30 and it was 80 I still would be very very happy. It is Just about Perfect, and Just Like I thought. it is Just Like Emerson Commander But Sharper and Better steel. It Feels perfect in all Grips. The Finish, satin finish is beautiful and The Flipper is Fun:-)
It works very easy in Left hand or right hand even with gloves on because of Flipper.
And It works great wonders with tomatoes!!
I think it is the sharpest knife out of the box I ever had.
And Emerson wants to charge $200 or more, for Lesser Steel that soft and chisle ground to make more faster? Thais Is better then Commander. Unless you Must have wave. But it's Gimmick to me. I can Pull My Knife out and be ready to cut My Tomato just has fast, and I'd Put Money on it if I gambled. AND My Knive would cut tomato better too!! And I can get 3 Lahar for 1 commander, maybe 4!!!

One thing, Someone Mentioned it was Built strange. that it true. I took it apart and but bronze washers in it. It is was Smoother and Faster opening now.
But There Is No Back Stop piece?
It Locks as strong as any Strong knife. But it's Built strange.
I am Very happy with it, and I still would if I had to have paid the MSRP and never knew it was only 30.
Thank all of you for the recommendation. It is just about the perfect knife.
It's is Very shiny and aggresive looking too. It Gets sunlight like Mirror and is scary looking. bu still small and Light to carry.
I also Like that I can expierement with tip up or tip down.
this is the first real "Flipper knife" I have had, and I can't tell what I like beter to carry it. all others I like tip-up. but we will see

Thank you again
