Kershaw Lahar

The Lahar is easily one of the best knives that I own. Smooth action, great blade steel and a comfortable handle. The Lahar is a steal even at MSRP.

Oh, Ok I see How it Stops. Very Interesting. I would tell someone to get 2-3-4 Lahars over 1 Emerson Commander any day. I say this because My Commander, the first day I got it in the mail, First it wasn't very sharp,
the blade rubbed the side and scratched ir before I could even fix it.
I Have to fix it all the time.
The steel is so soft I have to try to sharpen it just if I cut one peice of rope.
One time I tropped in on wood floor and it landed edge down. Instead of sticking in wook like any other knife would. The entire belly of edge rolled to one side and 2 chips!!
I drop cheapAND expensive knives on wood kitcken floor all the time. Never did I see this. It was like the blade is made from tin foil.
Mr. Emerson Has Nice design on Paper, with Wave and G10. and Fighting knives. But In real life the are Junk and cost too much. especially when you can get Same,*Better design in my opinion. Knife like Lahar. I get 3- lahar and Give to 2 friends for 1 commander.
It's Sad. Tinfoil knife, colored black to be "cool" and Soft like butter with Gimmick wave and charge 200 dollars for. what a waste of money!!

Oh, Sorry Everyone, It was the last and nly one left for clearance sale to get new stock of Keshaw knives at Sporting goods store. they said there are lot of new kershaw knives coming in on mnday. I Hope they might slip some Lahar in there. It's the Best.

I also Like the JYD a lot but it was a little more then I had.

I really Liked a Knife called the "Gentlemans Folder" it came with a Beautiful leather sheath and was a Very Beautiful folding knife. He said they are getting a few more of them and are taking the price of 90 dollars down to 55 dollars for 1 week. I think I might get that. It Is very very sharp and Comes with a Leather sheath that fit like glove and has belt clip. Very nice. it's is perfect for chores and will fit nice with my suit.

Thanks for the writeup on the Lahar. I have been eyeing one up. I think I'll have to snag one now. The Vg-10 steel is great, I love it in all my spyderco's so I am sure Kershaw has done just as nice a job on it. Its bigger than I thought it would be in the pics and I like that.

I recently worked on a lahar. It is definitely a nice, simple knife. The blade steel is good and the action is acceptable.

It's put together a little differently that the other Kershaws I've dealt with. The screws and pivot are strange, but I don't see a problem with that. I would personally replace the delrin washers with bronze, but that's about it.

I'm personally not a fan of the shape, but for that price....

Phillip

What would be the improvement you would get by changing the washers?

How difficult is it to replace the delrin "washers" on a lahar? When you say "bronze" do you mean bronze phosphor? What size would I need, and where could I buy some?
Thanks,

Dunno the size, but knifekits carries them. It'd be even smoother.
