The substance of "discussion" in bold (I'm one of the ones who was looking for such a Leek and now sharing):

If you're looking for a Kershaw Leek with a stronger blade tip, S30V steel blade and G10 handles then you're in luck since KnifeCenter has a limited edition run of 321 of them.

Thanks, RZ. Back in the day, I had a G10 Leek and ended up selling it because the G10 was a pocket shredder. But that's before I figured out that 20 seconds with some fine sandpaper would knock the edge off the G10. The one you linked to looks pretty good.

The two with the roughest G10 for me were ZT 0550 and Spyderco Southard. However, like you, I used skateboard tape to smooth them out.

This particular run of the Leek is unique in that it addresses those who want a stronger tip, non-metallic handles and no serrations.

I really, really like the kershaw leek 1660 cb Ramzar , it's a great knife, thanks again. I can't seem to get it out of my pocket or hand, love the speed safe, perfect size, nice n smooth. Perfect gentleman folder.

My Kershaw 1660TG10 (plus spare) got shipped today so I should get it on Monday. Comparison pictures and discussion to follow alongside CB (1660CB), Random Leek (1660TGRYST), Flag (1660FLG) and S30/G10 (1660G10).

FWIW I gotta back RamZar on this one. He does post a good amount of these threads but they usually lead to good discussion and he is a very knowledgeable member. I've picked up a lot of info from his posts.

hopefully these last a while why I wait for my money tree to bloom. I really like the random leek. Mine has the scalloped serrations, it was the only one I could find at the time. I would really like to have a PE.

I am delighted to hear this news I had a ltd edition S30V random leek years ago, gave it away, been missing it badly and this one has G10 = even better!!

I love my old Scallion and Blurs - never warmed up to the Leeks I've had. They seemed to remind you in a cruel way to lock them closed for in the pocket carry. I gave them all, save one Dam Leek, to my older son. It's blade was made up the road a piece by Alabama Damascus - an Alabama connection!

Still... G10 scales and an S30V blade... even if it is a Tanto... nice. Naw, the Tanto end ruins it for me.

Don't let the blade shape stop you from trying it out. It is a reverse tanto so it performers like the other leeks I have just with a stronger tip IMO.

Just got mine, and initial impressions are good. It has a thin hollow grind that makes it a wicked slicer. The blade actually looks a hair longer (maybe 1/16" or so) on the 1660TG10 compared to the 1660G10. The blade coating is just like the coating on the Random Leek (1660TGRYST), and the handles & liners are just like on the regular G10 Leek. The G10 Leeks are a bit thicker than the stainless steel frame lock leeks, but it is still so sleek that it is barely noticeable in pocket.

I'm looking forward to putting this one into the rotation.

Damn, that thing looks sweet. I've only ever had the stainless steel framelock version. Gave it to my friend for his birthday. This may be worth looking into. Thanks for the info, Ram!
