I was always in the mindset that the Leek was perfectly safe in the pocket. I love the knife and have many different models. It’s pretty sweet.
This morning I had a carbon fiber version in CPM154 in my left pocket with the factory clip it‘s stock location; tip down, left pocket carry (spine against seam).
I was not doing anything other than moving around the house. I am wearing cargo shorts. I reached into my right side pocket, and when pulling out my wallet I felt something “bite” my left leg. I reached into my left pocket to see if a insect or something was in my pocket. I
felt nothing but the handle of my Leek.
I took a step and got “bit” again in the same area. At this point I freaked out thinking a centipede was in my pants and dropped trou in a hurry.
Nothing. Reached in my left pocket and low and behold a half-open Leek. And on my left outer thigh a nice little stab wound.
I guess I will be using the lock from now on!
I also want to stress how it’s a good idea to ensure whichever pocket you use, the knife spine is against the pocket seam. I remember a story not long ago that a guy’s Leek cut his man parts. I had sorta always chalked that one up as BS, but now I wonder...
