Kershaw leek replacement

I don't know if your requirement of 3" is because of the implications of the overall size, but if the overall size is still small enough and 3.25" blade is not too long, then consider the CH Knives CH 3001. Light, compact and only $55 or less, D2 blade, titanium frame lock, and classy looking. My review:

Slightly wider handle, slightly thicker handle, but same blade profile I would suggest the new Kizer Tangram Santa Fe. You can get it for $30, and I'm in love with mine. For the price, you won't get a better knife with the same modified Wharncliffe shape.

The Holdout 3 is a nice knife though. Super light, very thin, a gentle curve spear point (doesn't feel far off from a modified Wharncliffe), just a little stiff to open and close. If you can get one in XHP you will have a real winner. The AUS-8 models don't present near the same value, but are an okay consolation prize.

I don't know if someone has already suggested it, but if you're trying to replicate the look and feel of the Leek you might consider the CRKT Titanium Eros. I know I may take some heat for suggesting a CRKT knife, but I've handled the premium Eros and its a well put together knife. Probably a little overpriced for the sum of the parts but it's definitely Leek'ish.

Why not just get a new leek they recently released one in cpm-154 and carbon fiber

Or there is the zt 0450 which is about the same size as the leek

I do plan on getting a new leek in addition to a newer knife. I like the Damascus one and the carbon fiber one. But i also want to get a new knife similar in length and weight. I also like the kizer vanguard begleiter. But after watching the nick shabazz review it gave me mixed feelings. the CH 3001is also a good idea too. I'll most likely get a hold out 3 in xhp and also another knife.

I recommend both the DF2 and Hold Out. I had a H.O. II in CTS-XHP, never a problem with that steel and it takes a screaming edge in no time, just like my other CS knives in that steel.
Their G10is super grippy, no scares on the purchase of the handle, and the tapered shape of the scales allows for a very solid feel and secure handling

The DF2 is one of the all-time picks for a small, unobtrusive knife and has so many great features and merits on its own, I recommend picking one up anyways,

Would you recommend the hold out 2 or the 3? ive been deciding between the two but leaning towards the 3. But a little part of me wishes for the bigger one. Which one do you think is a better choice for a back up edc?

My favorite 3" blade is a BM mini-grip closely followed by a native 5. The native is noticeably bigger. Both are bigger in pocket than a leek.

The new CF leek might be a good replacement if you're looking for a leek but with nicer components. cpm 154 steel and CF scales. A similar but very different feeling knife is a sog aegis mini which is an amazing carrying knife and is assisted. I didn't like the locking mechanism so ended up with a mini-grip after a lot of trial and error but the aegis mini carries nearly as nice as a spyderco dragonfly which has a considerably smaller blade. May or may not be your cup of tea but I would recommend spending some time with it in a store.

Edit: the modified sheepsfoot mini-grip is my favorite, for added detail after seeing jumpstat's post. The blue handled mini is the knife I still have in the photo. I changed from the LW native 5 to an altered native with micarta scales.

I find that no matter how many knives I own or sell I always make sure that I have at least one Leek in my user collection. IMHO I think that the leek rewrote the definition of an EDC knife. Perfect dress knife, decent size blade, razor sharp. very light and the assist is so cool for a knife that small. When your wearing a suit and it is not appropriate to have a knife clip peeking out of your pants pocket you take the Leek and clip it on your in breast pocket inside your suit jacket.
Absolutely great knife that is a must in every knife collection big or small.

well the H.O. II is a full sized folder, I carried it in right front pocket as my main folding knife. It's big, and handles almost any task you could ask for on a n EDC folder. It's smooth, the blade shape lends itself to all types of tasks and the grip is excellent, no hotspots and totally secure purchase, the G10 si smoother than on older models but grippy, and won't shred your pants like older Cold Steels did.

The steel is very nice, easy to touch up and worlds above the old AUS8 in edge retention. The coating it's super durable and helps a lot with corrosion issues.

The handles and scales are also thinner than older iterations and it's very flat and thin in the pocket. I'd carry it as a main folder, full sized knife i you're used to carrying the Leek for that role. The H.O. III is definitely the size and class of smaller, backup knives for me.
Can't go wrong with any of them though!
