Kershaw Leek: what does it close on?

How would it be a big deal if the blade hits the plastic backspacer?

Because the plastic is enough to roll the edge on that spot... Go try cutting a piece of plastic and see if you've still got a shine-free edge. The reason I've stated my concern is precisely because my absolutely brand new Leek, which has never cut a thing, has shine on the edge exactly where the backspacer is, which is also exactly where there are cut marks.

Some of you like taking things personally... The edge is not supposed to touch anything in the closed position any which way you look at it.
