Kershaw let this one slip QC. (pic heavy)

I bought a "Needs work" hoping for a decent straight edge folder to open boxes with and found that it really did need work. The edge was dull out of box, it wouldn't take an edge, and when I did finally did get it sharpened it didn't keep the edge. The flipper deployment was also horribly stiff; so stiff that i found myself actually manually deploying the blade. I'm sorry to say that I don't have any experience with the Kershaw Talon, but have plenty of less than pleasing experience with the Needs Work so I can defiantly relate to your disappointment.

^ That's odd, maybe you got a dud? My EDC (G-10 Needs Work) Get's sharpened once a month and holds a wicked edge. Sounds like your pivot is too tight as well. Send it to Kershaw or ask them for a T-tool to fix it yourself. Just make sure to have the blade open if you plan on taking it apart.

Sounds like you got an odd one -- Kershaw's customer service would be more than happy to fix the issue(s) you're having though :)

I'd love to see the three talons together that would be a sight to behold! I always liked the ti talon! You did keep that unsharpened one unsharpened right?

Those are rare, edge or not. PE , and without the " Kershaw wave" makes them pretty desirable. Not having the edge won't affect the value to the crowd these are going to get interest from. If I had money I'd be in that crowd and the lack of an edge might make me hesitate for about a half a second.
