Items which do not sell can be relisted after 14 days. Most sellers relist. Moreover, most sellers don't track old sales threads. So responding to an old sales thread usually does not drive the seller to respond. But it does attract scammers. Scammers will create an account with a name which resembles that of the seller, and try to get you to send them your money.

Therefore, posting in a sales thread which is older than 30 days is a poor idea.
