Got this one in the mail yesterday - $40 with shipping from eBay - not a bad deal!

From the photos I've seen on the net, I knew I loved the design, and I was not disappointed by the real thing. This is a very well-designed knife. Very comfortable to hold, great ergonomics, excellent weight ballance. The blade shape is great for misc EDC tasks. Materals are high-quality, fit and finish excellent. I don't have anything bad to say about this knife, except maybe that it's a bit too heavy for my liking. But the weight comes with the solid feel. This is a knife I can rely on, even though it's a linerlock. I'm also a big fan of how much thought Kershaw puts into their clip designs to match the overall look and feel of the knife.

One thing - I wish Kershaw made a run of these without the AO option at all. It's nice that you can turn it on and off (although I can't seem to be able to do it without the help of some coth or something, since the switch is pretty tight and tries to tear thru my fingers), but I do not really want the AO option in there at all ... and I'm guessing it contributes a bit to the weight.

Anyway, a great knife overall. And a great buy.

I just cut up a cardboard box and a paper envelope with it to test the cutting ability. The knife feels great in the hand, making cutting motions very natural, effortless, and comfortable. It cuts thru cardboard and paper very nicely in clean straight lines. It'll do great as an EDC, and I'm sure it'd be up to much more demanding tasks. The liner is thick and the lockup secure.

And since a picture is worth a 1000 words:

Hey Tim, have you ever taken an A.O. Kershaw apart? The mechanism is just a little bar a few inches long, probably weighs less than a tenth of an ounce. It’s easily removed completely, and easily replaced. Just take off the handle scale opposite the locking liner (make sure the knife is open or A.O. switched off, otherwise the spring will be under tension).

No, I have not done this. Sounds like I'm wrong about the cause of the weight then. If that small bar (I can see it when the knife is open) is all it is, then I guess it can stay :)

Can you give us an idea of how big the knife is? From the size of the clip, one would guess 2 1/4 inches of blade, about the same as the Scallion?

And if you do open up an AO, it would be suggested that you deploy the blade first. A loaded spring seems to enjoy playing hide and seek.

The clip on this one is wide, but short. The knife is quite a big bigger than a scallion. It's about the length of the Leek, but beefier. Feels even stronger than the Blur, but is noticably smaller. If you have a Spydie Native, it's pretty similar in size all around (but much heavier).

I ended up moving the clip for tip-up carry and adding a lanyard to this knife. Feels even better now. Snapped a couple more pictures:

Some comments from myself and others regarding the full size Cyclone.

Yes I agree its quite the "bargain" right now the Larger version is quite large but I like that and you can get the larger version on ebay for under $50 bucks! I already have a G-10 Kershaw Speed (Spec) Bump (limited run) with the Sandvik steel and this is suprisingly a very nice knife! I hated the pocket clip and modified it by swapping it with a Maserin knife clip I got on ebay for $7.00 and ground of one mounting holes with a dremel and the other 2 holes aligned perfectly IMHO this is a better clip and more utilitarian in nature for me! But a New Cycleone is going to be in my posession soon!
