hello! I just bought this knife recently, a Kershaw Outcast, as a last minute "I-need-a-knife-for-camping" piece, and love it and hate it. I found the handle too slim, so i wrapped it with paracord, and hated the belt clip so i removed it. Anyone else have any suggestions for modding this knife or sheath at all? All suggestions welcomed and appretiated!, thanks

Convexing the edge is probably the best mod you can do with the Outcast. I like it very much but D2 isn't the toughest, most shock resistant steel for a very large fixed blade that could see chopping duties causing high stresses & shocks due to the mass of the knife. The convex geometry should help cut down on some chipping and possibly help improve on some kinds of cutting, slicing & chopping.

I'd send it to a knife maker who is experienced with the outcast and the job you're asking for. D2 is very wear resistant and it'll take a very long time to hand convex it. Likewise it's wear resistant enough to cause power tools like a belt sander to build up quite a bit of heat and the better service providers will take steps to insure no damaging heat is achieved.

The outcast can be a real beast. It's a great big chunk of D2. Mine came sharp enough out of the box to bite me more than once. :)

Can you post pics of your paracord wrapped handle?

I also have the outcast and find the handle narrow for my paws...

lol, mine bit me too! got 3 stitches across the thumb o_O (DOWN BOY!!) I agree on the convex edging and apparently there is a guy in california that refinishes and mods the likes of busse's, so I will give that a definite consideration. How do I post pictures? I would love to post pics of the handle, but I'm a FNG and haven't figured out how to post them yet :$
