quick question: does a kershaw leek have the index finger opening option like the chive? i know the scallion has it, but not positive on the leek. i just got a chive yesterday, and now i'm addicted to speedsafe.

Welcome. As confirmed by Diamond Cut II the Leek does have the index option. Although I noticed that it is slightly samller IMO it does not cause a problem. It should also be mention that the configuration of the "flipper" is angled and grooved differently.

who isn't? :D
it starts small
first the chive, then the scallion, leek, whirlwind, avalanche, whisper :)
it'll never stop

Welcome scar1! And yes, DEA is correct that the Kershaw/Onion's are very addictive. I also started with the Chive and now own a Rainbow Leek. I went back to Wal-Mart (where I got the Chive) to look at the Vapor and when I saw that it didn't have Speed-Safe, I said "No thank you!" and left. Awesome knives.

I just got a Chive. My first speedsafe.
Guess I know what I can look forward to now.

It is a preaty cool little blade.

nope. just ordered a reg. leek from new graham. the boa looks tasty, but my griptilian has that position filled.

actually, i'm not into the boa either
the flipper makes for a slow opening compared to using the thumbstuds
which kinda defeats the purpose of having a flipper

take the avalanche over it any day :)

i hear ya DEA. i already have a fast opening brute in the BM 550. i wanted something chive-like but a little bigger. the scallion looks exactly like a chive, so thats no fun. the leek fit the bill.
