How can you not love this marvelous little inexpensive flipper designed by Grant & Gavin Hawk and manufactured expertly by Kershaw?!

The flipper action is superlative with a great safe lock.

I have four of them and they all have super sharp blades but only in Sandvik 14C28N.

Of course, they're discontinued!

Real pity since with some minor upgrades it could be another winner.

Your thoughts, experiences and as such...

I have only 1 ram I wish I had another one or two, tried to buy one on the forum recently as a matter of fact. This is a sweet knife indeed, because its getting harder to find I don't want to use the one I have

Useless thread without pictures :D

Old pictures but current knives:

I know there are RED ones out there but I'm very satisfied with my little collection of great little Kershaw RAM folders.

There's an extra RAM satin serrated that I use all the time. Wonderful little blade. KAI are you listening?!

The sad reality is the R.A.M didn't sell as anticipated so it went the way of the Dodo. There are plenty of us that liked it, and even more that loved the speed (fastest opening folder ever?) and unique lock, but we (BF peeps) are rarely the majority.

Personally, I loved the slicer-centric blade, lock, speed, weight, quality, and durability. But the handle didn't fit me well in either grip and the blade to handle ratio was a bit skewed. Overall, it was probably way ahead of the times...and I hope someday we will see another design with the same lock and opening speed.

Funny and true but my little sister (13 year differential) called me DoDo from day one of her vocabulary. Okay, never mind...

Back to reality, anybody, try a Kershaw RAM and tell me if it's not one of the absolute best manual flippers you've encountered. KAI has a treasure in their chest...

I did love the flipper on the RAM, best I have ever used. But overall I didn't fall in love with the knife. The placement of the lock on the handle made it a bit awkward to use. But that flipper was great.

Cool features on the RAM. I had a couple early on to try them out, but they just didn't grow on me. Although its extremely smooth and felt comfortable, I just found it too ugly.

I had a RAM, too, but the ergos didn't work for me, so I gifted it to a buddy who loves flippers. The handle was too angular in hand. The three rivets near the spine of the blade also got in my way when cutting full depth. Very nice knife, just not suited to my needs.

I love it. One of my most favorite ever. I wish there had been a few more colorations and maybe an L.E. but it was not a huge sales success unfortunately. I have really thought about looking for A G&G Hawk Custom R.A.M. of which these were based off of. I loved mine so much so that I frankenrammed it with a ckt blade and made some cf scales to make it pop! I use the the other frankenram as a work knife. It has been used and abused and is no worse for the wear! Truly superb lock and I would love to see some of the features as stated by J_Curd re-applied to a new design!

I only have 1 and I guess it's impossible not to agree that it's one of the best manual flippers out there (production since I've never owned a custom).

What kind of clip is that UnBrokenChain?

G&G Grip Clip if I'm not mistaken.

Never had a chance touch one of these but they look great imo.

Does anyone know if Kershaw still has the 'rights' to the Kershaw RAM? I wonder if Kershaw would work with Grant and Gavin Hawk to adapt the release button a little to address some of the folks who do not care for it (the G&G Hawk RAM 2 and 3 customs all used a top of the knife lock release...) Personally, I like the lock release of the original Kershaw RAM - best knife I have ever purchased of the flipper variety.

Here is hoping that some other company picks up the RAM design if that is even legally possible. Thankfully G&G Hawk have moved on to other knife makers.

I picked up a plain edge 1910 Kershaw R.A.M. a year ago but finding the nice all black blade version for under $100 other than the south american rainforest and some auction sites now is a no go - all gone - time to make a limited run of Kershaw RAM Knifes KAI... Please & thank you!

I love my Kershaw Ram, fastest manual flipper I have ever used. The only thing is I am not a big fan of choils. If the Ram had a handle that was comfortable with my whole hand off the blade I would carry it more.

Send me one and I'd be happy to try it... :P

Seriously though, and sadly, wish I gotten one or two before they were discontinued, now that I see it. I remember looking a long time back and not being interested but in recent months I have wanted one, now I can't find any for less than $100... aargh.

A RAM 1910 just sold on the forum last night for 70 bucks, if I would have seen this thread I would have bought it...
