At my local shop I found that they have some Kershaw Rams, I haven't heard much about them, but I do know that Kershaw discontinued them.

They're priced at 78$ and only the combo serrated version. I'm not a fan of combo edge but should I jump on it? Is it a good price? What are your thoughts on the Ram?

Thanks

The RAM is a very interesting design. The flipper is super fast and the lock is unique. My RAM is a blem I got from Kershawguy awhile ago. It is a fun knife to flip and is a decent EDC blade with decent blade steal. The pocket clip on mine is very tight and that combined with the G10 scale makes it hard to get out of my pocket.

It is a cool, unique knife but for $78 with a combo edge (I am not a fan as well) I would probably pass on it

The ram is a great knife. For a new ram at $78 I would take one for sure. The flipper is so slick in that knife, and the ram is getting harder to find. You made a nice find

I started off my addiction really digging flipper designs but I'm not big on the assisted openers and the skyline and manual flippers haven't been smooth and require lots of wrist action, so I'm back to thumbstuds manuals.

How are the serrations on resharpening?

The RAM flipper is unlike any manual flipper you've ever used. You will have no problems flipping it open quickly and consistently.

Now my curiosity is piqued, if it requires little wrist action, I'm sold

It should take no wrist flick to open. Actually, the wrist flick comes in on closing :) You hold down the lock button with your thumbnail and wrist flick the knife closed.

$78 is a little high, but as has been stated earlier they're getting hard to find, so not TOO outrageous. My only hesitation would be the combo edge, and only you can decide how you feel about that.

All in all my RAM is one of my favorite knives.

Kershaw RAM has excellent flipper action requiring no wrist-assist at all. It's also very smooth. Pity it's no longer being made and with better steel.

Shouldn't need any wrist action whatsoever. It has 2 springs in it that help actuate the lock. This gives it an almost assisted feel but its only the pressure of those lock springs you are actually overcoming. Once you overcome them it flies open and the springs lock it into place. It is rediculously smooth and the G&G Hawk Lock is one of the strongest locks out there. I wish they would have used it on more piecesthan just the ram and the 0500 MuDD. The ram is one of my top 3 favorite all time knives. Perfect everyday use size and the very thin hallow grind makes it a great slicer. If you get the chance look up a few videos on yewtoob to see how it works. The price is meh, if you keep your eyes open you can find them for decent deals but they are getting hard to find.

They only serrations I don't mind are then veff serration, at least I can resharpen those. These one look almost impossible

The flipper is faster than assisted with no actual springs aside from the camming action of the lock. Literally faster than an automatic.

The serrations are easy to sharpen; sharpen from the back side at a really high angle.

The Ram next to the crkt Ripple are the best flippers I've used. They require no wrist flick to open.

The clip on mine is also tight and hard to get in and out of the pocket, but other than that I like it. That said, the serrations would be a deal breaker for me.

I absolutely love the R.A.M.! In my opinion it's one of the best bang for your buck knives Kershaw has ever made. With that being said I would pass on it for that price especially with serrations. I picked up my satin plain edge version for like $55 shipped.

I'm curious re: why they discontinued them if anyone knows.

It is a very slick little knife and very fun to play with, mine is PE and has the "1 of 500 production" marking on it or something like that, has been in storage for awhile.

Never used it to cut anything but if I remember correctly it opened almost like a auto. It's a pretty small knife, approx. same size as a delica.

I'd say buy it, I think I paid around $60 for mine awhile back.

I love the ram. Was sad to see it go. Ill bet it didnt sell well besides us here and they had to make room for more models and ones that sold better.....but thats just a guess...and an uneducated one at that.

The Hawk Lock is really unique, and easy to like, also it's a very quick folder to deploy, and very fast/quick, you'll nearly swear it's a speedsafe. 78 bucks is steep though, but they aren't making any more.

Amazing knife, a couple things i didn't like pocket clip really tight like a few kershaws, lock tension kind a hurt my thumb playing with it. Was amazing slicer. Nice knife, great build quality.
