Kershaw / RJ Martin Zing

I can't do the amazing quality photos that kneedeep can do, but I thought this thread needed some shots of the Tanto Zing.

So, here's mine... I've done some polishing to the blade and darkened the pocket clip, so it's not exactly what you'll get from the factory... I just wanted to do something a little different...

The Zing IS the knife I decided to take with me to my last year in internship. It has many competitions from other Kershaws and Spydercos, but Zing won.

Is that a two tone sharpie finish ? Sweet !!!:D

What did you use to put that nice mirror polish on the blade?
English Custom Polish (liquid, 4-steps), small pointed felt bobs (one for each step), and a single speed Dremel wired to a dimmer switch for speed control. The polish was some pretty expensive stuff I originally got for the wheels on my car. Just used a little dab on the felt bob and set the Dremel speed nice and low. I also used masking tape along the grind line, that's how I got the nice hard edge between the polished area and the bead-blasted area. I was a little disappointed at how easily it picked up scratches afterword though. Seems like anything that isn't a microfiber cloth will put those "angel hair" scratches in it. I do carry the knife occasionally though, so I've decided not to obsess too much over maintaining a perfect finish. All in all, I was quite happy with the way it turned out, especially considering it was my first try.

Am I the only person here bothered by the fact that the US made Zing has been replaced by an import using a lesser steel and a non-fluted blade?

BTW, I'm new here, hi.

Love these. Only missing one for the complete set. Bet you can't guess which one. Also got a few frankenzings in the works.

I don't see a damascus Zing...

Bingo. I got my hopes up with the last Dam run, but that never materialized. I WILL find one eventually. Honestly have never seen one come up for sale, but sooner or later I will find one.

I need DAM, CE tanto and orange still. SS Zing doesn't count in my book.

The CE is on the bay all the time. I got lucky with the orange and found a selling it for its original price. Want another orange to put a black tanto blade on. I got the SS just because it is called a Zing and was a steal. Actually the non blem green was a tough one for me to find. The DAM is gonna take some luck or another run. Best of luck on getting them all.

They are great little knives. I wish Kershaw would bring them back to the states and put them back in production. Different color g10 and some different blade options would be awesome.

There's usually at least one up for auction on the bay most days. If a lot of people are looking the price can get up there fairly quick.

The Zing is one of my favorite "little big knives" and the flipper action is probably the best of all my Kershaws or ZTs. Both of mine are Tantos made in the US.

I like this one too - originally bought mine because I liked the pocket clip better than on the Leek.
