Kershaw SG2 steel?

If this steel is as good as they say, why aren't there more people using it?

Cost? Don't recall for sure but I believe the street price on the Kershaw was around $160-$180. Part of that was most likely due to it being Ti and a framelock but steel most have added something to equation?

Based on a goolge search it seems like the SG2 is pretty difficult to work with. If true that would mean more labor and more cost. Maybe the return on investment just isn't there over other similar and easier to work steels?

I would love to try out that JYD 2, but... man that pocket clip is about as fugly as you could get. Certainly doesn't go together with dress slacks and a button up shirt that I have to wear to the office. They will think that I am carrying around the bat-a-rang.... But I do like the looks of the actual knife and have heard it it very comfortable. I think Gayleans pro series have much better clips.

STR Lowrider anodized your favorite color. $30 well spent.

I love the SG2 on my JYDII and my Blur. It's great steel. It sharpens and strops up to a super fine edge and it holds an edge for a good length of time. I don't know if I would compare it to ZDP-189 in any respect. I feel that ZDP-189 flat out wins over SG2 on wear resistance. My ZDP-189 blades just keep their edge sharper for longer. I can't say much about corrosion resistance because I've honestly never had a problem with either, but from what I've heard SG2 has better corrosion resistance. SG2 definitely sharpens easier.

The best comparison I've heard so far is the comparison to BG-42. Of course, this is only from my personal use. I wish that there were more knives that used this steel. I know that Fallkniven used it in a fixed blade or two.

By the way, JYD's rock. :D
